We still had posties coming in half an hour early this morning, one came in @ 5:30 for a 7am start :arrrghhh
who are these people...

Do they have ridiculously big jobs and have been bullied into coming in early by management because they've been told they are underperforming?

Do they like to come in early because they like chatting to customers / having numerous breaks during the day?

Are they just so damn slow that they make up for it by coming in early?

Maybe these early starters aren't actually doing extra free work, but are just damn slow.
Its nearly always posties with more years than most that come in early, suppose they could never get out of that habit 🙄
This is so true at my office. There is people on here that complain about the runners, but don't think they just up and learned that kinda behaviour from nowhere. Not sure whether it's done weird kind of loyalty to their customers or just been selfish douchebags that just want to get done early. The problem is though, when it comes to management handing them extra work, they are always the first to spit their dummies out. Hell, sometimes the managers are that scared of upsetting them, they get away with it.But, expect the less senior to cover the rounds, be it overtime or trying to bum rush you to doing it faster. Out of all of my time working here, think they pee me off the most cuz they should know better.

No winners here except the big boys like CEO and his cohort, the board and the new owners that will be getting RM on the cheap with no Union to deal with
So what do YOU suggest we do chrisj? Blindly accept all RMs proposed changes and HOPE everythings going to work out OK? :hmmmm

Because we all know we can our Trust our CEO & Board to put their employees interests at the top of their list can't we? :cuppa

Royal Mail Group CEO Simon Thompson has responded to CWU General Secretary Dave Ward’s letter offering talks. A meeting will now take place tomorrow. Dave Ward and Andy Furey will attend on behalf of the CWU.

We will of course update you on all developments but reps and members should continue preparations for strike action on Friday and Saturday #StandByYourPost
Bet you a penny to a pound of pig shite that it'll be the usual, "Well if you can suspend any Strike Action while these talks are going on ...."
Bullshit! :thumbdown

I think a lot of people are getting to the stage where they'd rather see this company Crash & Burn rather than let Simon Thompson Win? :cuppa

Honestly, the only way I'd probably be comfortable moving forward would be if Simon Thompson and his cronies were gone. They talk to him, and then what? Back to the song and dance a year down the line again? Heck no! Hell, I'm not even expecting nothing but him parroting his same speech of "change" and "losing million a day" shite he's been doing for like half a year.

Here we go again :no no :shhhhh 2yearpostie up to his old tricks again. If that’s what you think you’d better go down the job centre. :wave
Id sooner stay here, work 9am-4pm. Do the odd Sunday have 2 days off in the week, still get some kind of pay if ill and be able to pay my bills tbh.

So that will only be 114,999 on the dole then. You do realise that as part of the changes, 9am-4pm won't happen. It may be 9am but you will be out until you finish, and with 114,999 others to cover for you may be a while.

No employer can force you to work anything but your contracted hours, even if they did are they really going to pay everybody overtime/bank hours so that they can complete their rounds rather than cutting off

You’re not alone.
Unfortunately that’s not how collective bargaining works.

I wish people could sign themselves out of things.
There would be a significant number of people worse off than their colleagues and struggling to get support with things like sick pay.

The Union are largely responsible for many of the things you benefit from as an employee.
Perhaps people like yourself would gain more respect if they gave the difference in their pay due to Union negotiations, to charity for example.

I’ve yet to come across one of these folk in the entirety of my employment.
Unsurprisingly.

If RM put the changes through your contract will change, contracted hours in terms of start and finish times will be a thing of the past. And you cannot just carry on and refuse to sign it, there were no new contracts issued for the shorter working week etc - such changes will be made regardless.

I still can't see RM could issue a totally flexible working hours contract, there's got to be some minimum and maximum unless they issue zero hours contracts, which they've recently denied they intend doing, "work 'til you complete" sounds utter nonsense to me.

Just do some work for Uber or Deliveroo mate.

Because if we don't win this, that's what you'll be doing anyway.

My initial post was a slightly sarcastic reply to a troll on the forum. But the principle of a "start time and a finish" time will be out of the window - I am sure that if they couldn't just make these changes, the CWU wouldn't be highlighting it in the fight.
