I don't see RM backing down on this. They gone too far in their quest to demolish the CWU.

Like has been mentioned before I think they have set the groundwork for a takeover.

In the not too distant future I think the company will change hands, and all staff will be given an ultimatum, of sign new contracts or leave.

I’d sooner Royal Mail goes out of business than let them impose all these changes we’d all move on and find something better

I'd take the redundancy payout.

No way we will actually be doing this, as exciting as it is, either RM will back down, or they have some plan that probably involves the ACAS move.

GRS.....You must be one of those sucking up to management to do overtime following strike days.....FFS :thumbdown

The point of the strikes is NOT to build up a backlog of mail/parcels .... that's just a consequence.

GRS is probably just pointing that out. :cuppa

Good on the CWU, absolutely f**k Royal Mail with this announcement - every single company is now looking at RM and realising the potential of strike action during the busiest period of the year.

Puts huge pressure on Simon and those at the top as companies will flock away if there's a possibility of multi-week delays on any item - imagine posting a 48 hour parcel on November 1st, which likely won't be delivered until two weeks later.

My respect for Dave Ward and union was waining. This announcement has put them back in a high position. If Simon wants a war, he’ll get one. Come on the CWU!

I would have loved to have seen Smug Simon's face when he saw all those dates

I hope the CWU still have several Christmas pressure dates also in mind after this ?

Over to you now RM

total waste of time ! without a work to rule the greedies will demolish the backlog in days working their days off and lots of extended hours !

missed a trick union - only an overtime ban will have any effect
Its not about backlogs FFS.
We are trying to put the wind up parcel customers that if they stick with RM then their businesses are going to face major disruption and losses heading in to their (and RM's) most profitable time of year.

If we are a parcel company (that also delivers a few letters) then our parcel customers starting to desert RM and move to competitors in their droves is what will win this dispute for us.
No parcels = no jobs. Way to win
No fight = a job with Uber.

So we have nothing to lose. So if Royal Mail won't compromise, we will destroy them.

Understood?
Royal Mail will still be there. You might not be. Way to win.

Royal Mail is dead and buried if they get their way. Some sort of Royle Ubermail might limp on, their valuable workers better off elsewhere.

Royal Mail will only survives if we win.

Better off where? With so many people involved, most will just stay at far below par contract compared to what might have been had we accepted the changes with some qualifications.

Those in the job a long time and totally disillusioned seemed to be happy to take redundancy but Redundancy from who? The old generous RM or the rump left after the destruction?

No winners here except the big boys like CEO and his cohort, the board and the new owners that will be getting RM on the cheap with no Union to deal with
