International Tracking has not updated for 2 days.

I handed over a parcel at Baillieston DO on 7th November just after 2pm - postage had already been paid online.

Tracking shows that it was accepted there at 2:12pm. As it was a Sunday I wasn't expecting anything to move that day but 48 hours later there is still no new information. All it says is this;

Your item was posted at the Royal Mail Customer Service Point at Glasgow Baillieston DO on 07-11-2021. More information will be available as it travels through our network.

Why would it be saying "Sender preparing item" 2 minutes after I handed the parcel in and why has there been no movement for 48 hours?

One of the experts will probably have a better idea than me, but I'd say it's all fine and there's nothing to worry about. The tracking only updates when an item is scanned.

"Sender preparing item" suggests to me that Royal Mail (the sender) are getting it ready. When it's next scanned you'll see a tracking update.

Although Tracking is useful, I think lots of us rely on it too much. I remember the days before tracking, when you'd wait and the mail or parcel always arrived.

Thanks. Yes I understand that nothing will appear until it's next scanned. However it appears not to have moved from where I dropped it off 48 hours ago. I would have expected some movement by now.

It's going to Canada. Contains a coat, one toddler's shoe and a drinking cup for a toddler. They were items left behind when my family visited recently and they wanted the coat back in particular.

Tracking has finally updated just half an hour ago. Looks like it's been sitting about the Delivery office where I dropped it off on Sunday. I can understand it not going anywhere on a Sunday but it really should have moved yesterday.

Royal Mail have put out early warning of some delays to services owing to COP26. There has been increased demand, road closures and some post boxes have been sealed up for security purposes, etc, putting strain on other locations.

When the high and mighty (or not) descend upon a place, all manner of things are impacted - I'm sure you'll find it starts moving through the network again now.
