Dr Shaun Davis

The safety, health and wellbeing of our people is our number one priority and it is important that we get things right going forward.
Discussions with our union colleagues are still being finalised today, so it is unlikely that I can provide you with an update today.

Our position regarding shared vans, face coverings and social distancing remains unchanged and we will ensure that you have sufficient time to prepare for any changes being made.

I will provide you with an update as soon as I can and thank you again for your continued patience.
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Its the cost of the hire vans which they will want to cut RIGHT away. Double jabbed people not needing to isolate is on the cards. Registered mail now back to 1pm (why cant it be 2pm). Ofcom itching to impose fines and the list goes on and on. Cannon fodder springs to mind. :arrrghhh
Rows of houses all bearing down on me........I can feel their blue hands touching me.......All these things in all positions.........All these things will one day take control..........

Unchanged? Why was I on the sorting today standing next to 2 people either side of me less than a meter apart & numerous people clearing down without masks? 4 Cases in office. All allowed, according to the managers.......

Bring back the grey boxes on the street , single deliveries again !
[/quote
Them and the boxes that were bolted to the side of post boxes are long gone
All 15 of our HCT deliveries still use grey boxes. Even some of our van shares use them to drop stuff off that's later picked up to extend a loop while the driver does parcels. We've been doing van shares since 2010.

I still have 2 grey boxes on my walk, I assume Royal Mail are still paying the rent for them. Unless someone puts me right.
They are Royal Mails, they would have had planning permission for them. There are probably hundreds around the country now defunked, apart from the crafty few who still use them.
There's an old one just around the corner from me, one good kick and it'd probably snap off its base, it's that badly rusted

I believe there is now agreement between RM & CWU & a joint statement will be put out early tomorrow.

They did say it would be agreed by lunchtime today so who knows really??

I believe the agreed Covid Policies that are in place are all up for discussion and will be interested to see what RM’s position of isolating is going forward, especially after August 16th when you dont have to isolate if you had two jabs.

Joint Statement out now —- too long to copy all of it

 The return to Shared Vans and LGVs will therefore commence from (taking account of any individual and operational issues which must be jointly resolved in each unit beforehand) as follows:
o England 19th July 2021.
o Northern Ireland 26th July 2021 (subject to final confirmation on the 22nd
July 2021).
o Wales 7th August 2021 (subject to final confirmation). o Scotland 9th August

This is dated the 15th of July, since when they have stated that agreement has not yet been reached.

If my office goes back to shared now it's going to be a disaster. We already have 5 to 10 rounds down each day, with the odd day being 0 or 15, it's mad. No new starters on the cards either. They were only going hard on budget cuts a few weeks ago, and yet now asking people to work their time off again, clueless.

Shared van is cheaper overheads, but everything else suffers. At this current time our office don't have the time to readjust and learn buddy rounds with everyone getting moved around every day. Takes longer to deliver, and with constant 2 days work just compounds the issue. I for one will be working less and putting in less effort if van shares come back now. It's also too hot to be messing about right now and tempers will be short.
