Lost parcel from Scotland to England

Post by Kerrydj »

I returned a purchase from an outdoor retailer and posted it first class delivery on the 1st of August, Tracking Number 0214-73D9-0197-B022. Postcode NN11 8QH.
I have phoned Stonehaven sorting office and they have said that all parcels leave the sorting office, I phoned the sorting office in Daventry and they are sure they have not received the parcel, but advised that it could have got stuck at the sorting offices in between Stonehaven and Daventry? Now what, seems there is nothing further I can do. I cannot get my refund as the retailer has not received the return and the item has not been returned to me even thought it has a return sender address on it.

Any help or advice please.

That isn't a tracking number, not sure what it is.

Under the distance selling regulations, it is the seller's responsibility to get the item to you. If that fails, it is the seller's problem, not yours. You need to make a claim and, if that is rejected, get some legal advice.

It's the tracking number from a 2D barcode. Either for a "Delivered Scanned" or as a recorded delivery

The problem is that its an item I am returning to a seller, so they have not received it and so cannot issue a refund. I specifically thought I would send it First Class so that I could track it but tracking is of no use really. As it seems they only update once its delivered and nothing in between.

First class isn't a tracked service. You will get limited information if bought via certain online routes, that's all.

That isn't true, the seller has to issue a refund if it doesn't get to you. They shouldn't be waiting for it to come back. If they won't give you a refund, apply for a chargeback from your credit card provider.
