Post by narta »

hello, i send parcel by royal mail signed&track, to italy, week ago, inside pair of sport shoes, two cosmetics for hair, never had this problem before with similar parcel, in tracking i got information:

so where this parcel could be? could be already sent? or not really?

It could take a few weeks it all depends on what they decide to do, and whether italian customs refuse it, or send it on. Its possible they will send it back but there is no way to know that unless the status changes, or its deliver to you or its destination.

In fact it's entirely possible that Italian Customs or Royal Mail could destroy all the contents or just the offending items. It might be best to call Customer Services and get their advice.

if you have already contacted them then I would leave it and trust to luck. The 20 days start from when you send it, not today so you can claim in about 12 more days I think.

No it means its being prepared for dispatch to the NRC in Belfast - not that its actually got there.

However, if it has a return address NRC should return it to you eventually, if not then they will open to investigate and then return to sender if allowed. If unable to find a return address or for some reason it will then be disposed of as per their policies.

I would contact the call centre again advise them of what you have found. Ask them to record the details of the package - address going to and from, a physical description of its contents and wrapping etc. Then NRC may be able to return it to you even without a return address actually on the package.

"Care of" - returned to you via them for them to remove/destroy the prohibited item.

Yes, although the date you receive may not be soon, the NRC is a very busy place and someone in the same situation as you has been advised to wait till 29/30 Dec. I am guessing the process of opening the parcel, logging the details and destroying the offending article has to follow a certain legal process, I am guessing its a long and complicated one as it will have to be if its ever challenged in court.
