Recorded delivery 1st still being progressed 1 week on

Post by sholland »

Hello,
I posted a small parcel, about 200g 1st class recorded on 31 July from PE12 6BG to LE8 9AF.
Nothing prohibited in it, just 4 radio valves.
Tracking so far is,

Status: We have your item

Item KF396092168GB was posted at Matmore Gate Roa PE11 2PN on 31/07/14 and is being progressed through our network for delivery.

Last update: 31 July 2014, 01:49pm

ALSO there is just this on http://www.royalmail.com/trackdetails" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

31/07/14 11:51 ACCEPTED AT POL Matmore Gate Roa PE11 2PN

NOTHING else at all.

If a delivery was attempted and it failed, should this normally be in the tracking message on RM website?
Any ideas what might have happened please?

Thank you,
Robin

On recorded (Royal Mail Signed for is its new name) there is no more scanning until delivery is attempted. If the postie had a PDA then it should show as delivery attempted, even if he didn't and it was done on paper then something should show a few days later.

Possibilities:

1. Postie delivered it without getting a signature :so there :so there :thumbdown
2. Its still at the Post Office you left it at - unlikely but possible.
3. Its taking a while to get through the system.

I would contact Royal Mail customer services and see what they say.

Thanks TBT, what would we all do without your help?!
(1) The receiver e-mailed me to say he was still waiting. I asked him to check with his delivery office.
(2) The PO area (in a Tesco Local) is only about 50-60 square feet, so I think it would be spotted if still there.
(3) I will give it a day or two, then e-mail CS as I hate their phone waiting queue, with my telephone package it can soon cost me a lot!

Nice to know how the "tracking" works.
Thank you again.
Kindest regards,
Robin

UPDATE! They arrived yesterday! This is what the recipient told me:
To cut a long-ish story short, a relief postman didn't put an 'attempted delivery' note through my door on the 2nd.
2nd I think refers to second August, the expected delivery day? They were posted 1131 on 31 July first class.
Anyway, at least they got there....eventually!
