Item Held Hostage till I pay Customs Handling Fee :@
Customs are holding my item hostage till I pay customs handling fee. This can only mean the sender has listed the price on the box. I already paid way over the odds for delivery only for it to end up at the sorting office. Its not fair. I don't know who to ask, so I'm here to ask the community, please help me.

The sender has done what they are supposed to do - listed the content and value on the customs form. Did you not check what VAT/customs charges would be due on import into the UK? It is fair, it is the equivalent to VAT on any items you buy in the shops - do you not pay for goods in store because they have VAT on them?WTFI$THI$B$? wrote:Customs are holding my item hostage till I pay customs handling fee. HM Revenue & Customs has a page to explain it: http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/customs/post/internet.htm

they listed the value
the customs duty is due
you cannot get the item until that is paid
customs is nothing to do with what you paid for delivery

Thats the thing, I already paid the VAT on it. VAT AND delivery. I wouldn't be on here otherwise.

But you didn't pay VAT on it otherwise the HMRC wouldn't charge you again.WTFI$THI$B$? wrote:Thats the thing, I already paid the VAT on it. VAT AND delivery. I wouldn't be on here otherwise.

Now I have to pay more on delivery, but I'm not going to. I did not want the seller to refund me for the item alone minus the delivery charge. That is why I wanted to know if there was anyway of avoiding paying this nonsense. NONsence. :dcfo :ncfo :vcfo

you need to call hmrevenue and customes and ask for a fee waive they will then decide whether to do that if they do they will issue you with a letter that you then send in to customer services for full refund of r mail charge , but you will hve to make payment if they refuse you. but yep if fee is not paid our excellent will rt to sender free of charge
