I have a parcel to collect (checked on track and trace) but I don't have the something for you card to take to the delivery office. How much of a problem will this be? I know the tracking number and of course have ID but will I be able to collect without the card?

However, you should be able to rearrange delivery for a day when you'll be in (free) - or to another address covered by that Delivery Office (free) - or a Local collect at a PO (£1.50)
Although in all 3 cases yiou'll need to give time for the parcel to get back to the office - anything from 8 hours to 48 hours depending on local processes.

Re: No P739
I live in Uni halls of residence and over Easter there is no where to have my post delivered so redelivery seems improbable. This is likely why I have no P739 in the first place. I object to paying any more money when I have already paid postage.
Please explain why collection with suitable ID and no card is not allowed?
Also why is the phone number for my local delivery office not working?
Also I have already waited the 48 hours.

You can collect packets from our DO without a 739 card. I wasn't aware it was against any rules.
They write it down in a big book but as long as you have the relevant ID you can have your packet.

Very strict on it at Huddersfield - No Card - No Collection. If you check the back of the card it does state the card is needed along with ID. No much use for the Op though he does not have card.clashcityrocker wrote:You can collect packets from our DO without a 739 card. I wasn't aware it was against any rules.

To be honest Clash,it's never came to that although i've had to wait while people look for it before.clashcityrocker wrote:And what if they can't find it?fishtank wrote:Even when i redeliver they don't get the packet without the card.

I'll no doubt cross that bridge when i come to it.
What i have had though is people coming to the callers with a card looking for a packet, prompting a full scale search of the premises and subsequent investigation...only to find that they already had the packet but inexplicably still had a card.

Yes I understand that problem - normally a husband and wife who have stopped talking to each other.fishtank wrote: What i have had though is people coming to the callers with a card looking for a packet, prompting a full scale search of the premises and subsequent investigation...only to find that they already had the packet but inexplicably still had a card.
That's why we had another big book where all the redeliveries were written down. (It sat on the shelf next to the book of jury citations that had been 739'd)

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

That would surely depend on what, or who, you intended to have after 6?
