Special delivery help (ith ebay and strikes)
My seller posted a GPS by special delivery last friday (3rd). I didnt get it this saturday but i also didnt get it this
monday.
I found out that monday (6th) tues and wed and strike days (monday being stirking for international, tuesday striking for regional offices and wed strike for delivery offices). So uhm when will my item come cause some people say if its a "strike day" the next day guarantee isnt there. So when will i get the item? (I live in a city btw)
I hope to get some answer from you guys working here. The post is coming from lincolshire down to south wales. (Im getting the tracking number from the sller tonight).
Any reason why its taken soo long? (Even for special delivery). (I didnt receive it today (Tuesday))
Thanks loads.

You can ring Track & Trace on 08459 272100 and quote your reference number, its an automated service and will tell you when the item was attempted to be delivered and where it is now. You can also ask to speak to an advisor on this service aswell.

hmm i think this isnt just me, 5 people brought the same gps of the same seller on the day, and non of them have received it yet even when the seller put all the proper addresses etc... (+ posted it on friday).
P.S. I doubt the seller is a fraud, hes sold over 100 gps's and i've just phoned him about the delivery etc.

I'd say the seller has probably skimped on the costs and sent it 1st class recorded instead unless you are sure it is a special delivery.
Recorded deliveries sent in the uk usually start with a D and special deliveries with a Z
i.e. (DK123456789GB would be a recorded delivery as normal mail and ZM123456789GB would be a special next day delivery)
EDIT: that is from memory and is probably not a complete answer.

In theroy there will be a record of when the item was FIRST scanned which in turn indicates when the item was posted.
I have seen customers posting special deliveries at post offices AFTER the final collection.
In st neots the crown post office was franchised out into martins newsagents and the new set up is open untill 5.30 pm 6 days a week but final collection saturday is 12.30pm ish.

I think we I should emphasise that although there are strikes, Special Deliveries should be mostly unaffected. I believe they take a seperate path to normal mail and as such they should avoid posties and the strikes.
Lots of people on here seem to object my opinions but I do think that Special Deliveries are an essential service to the public and we should allow them to be delivered as normal. I've lost hundreds through striking but when the general public are moving house etc they need a deivery service. It doesn't do our cause any good if a poor family of five is in a B&B for 3 days waiting for documents. (for example)
