There is a significant issue with vans, trolleys etc not having enough load space hence why RM are investing hugely is these new e-bikes and milk float type machines.
The old style HCT are not fit for purpose.

The 2 things that 'killed' the ODM was people having to learn whole new duties and the complaints of fatigue.
DM26 apparently solved these issues. Now you have to learn 2/3 of another duty and fatigue has been removed by walking huge distances on the 'light' loops only doing 1C and packets. (how????)
Can someone tell me how the fatigue element has been solved?
If I'm doing 2-3 days mail on a single duty, i'm calling at 70% of houses. (ODM)
If I'm doing 4-5 bags of heavy and 4-5 bags of light on the same duty then 1/3 of another duty on heavy/light (DM26) I will absolutely be doing more work/using more energy versus ODM.

Because this is wrong.

You are doing 4 bags of heavy mail and 4 bags of 1st class and tracked. You both take 3 Bags of mail from your own duty and 3 bags of 1st and tracked. You take 1 bag each of heavy mail of the third of another duty and both 1 bag of 1st and tracked.

All together= 4 bags of heavy mail. 4 Loops of 1st and tracked. 8 Bags/loops.

Not 4-5 bags of heavy and 4-5 bags of light which if taking 5 as the number equals 10 bags. Then you are adding the 1/3 of a duty on top of this as well which results in 12 bags.
This is wrong and not factual. You are taking 4 bags of heavy and 4 bags of light all together. So 8 loops in total.
They would need to make the loops much much bigger for this to be correct in my office and even then that’s not reducing workload that’s just fudging how the frame is broken down

As it stands our walks have on average 8 loops a frame

So a van share would be doing let’s say 8 out of the 16 heavy and 8 light

THEN they would take a third from another frame heavy and a third from another frame light

So more than 8 loops each

I don’t know how it could only be 8 loops each per day unless there were only 4 loops on a frame and then they’d have to be monster loops

If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

It all comes down to whoever planned DM26 using a model office that is clearly able work this new system as they have (for example) duties with 6 loops and take about 4 hours or less to deliver. Meanwhile elsewhere….

What constitutes a heavy and light bag?

I’m in a pod on the singleton covering two duties. One of the frames is manageable (just) but the other is way too big and I’m doing 8 or 9 bags of mail+tracked packets and large parcels, along with tracked and first class on the other frame. Some of the bags are heavier than others but the heavy ones are incredibly heavy.

You should be doing 2/3rds of everything on duty 1 on the heavy day, plus 2/3rds of parcels+1c etc from duty 2 on its light day, obviously rotate the duties the following day.

The pairing of two posties on the other two duties should be doing the remaining 1/3rd of each of your duties.

Is that the case ?

If so and you can't do it then it's supposed to be reviewed

I'm interested to know what HTC walking rounds will involve. You can only take what you can fit inside an HTC and that can typically easily be done within our current shorter working hours, but when DM26 comes in the working day will be 30 to 60 minutes longer.
HTC have it so easy it’s complete opposite to van shares that get 200+ tracked when they only get 50 on a really heavy day
Not in my office, I was out delivering for six and a half hours yesterday with my HTC, maybe we don't do as many packets as vans but I was on my feet the whole time, and I was the last one back.
In our office it would be impossible to fit 6 and a half hours worth of delivery work into a HTC and several of the HTC rounds aren't even terraced housing, but predominantly semi-detached houses, so the walking distance is quite far on some of them.

What have they got you doing? walking an hour before getting to the area you deliver to?

There's going to be more mech released each day as soon data from flat sorting machines and packet sorting machines will be fed into the DTS algorithm. I'm guessing that not too long afterwards data from the packets scanned in the outward MC at least will also be fed into the DTS algorithm.

Mech released earlier just means less mech later, it's not more Mech being released, apart from the initial few days after it goes live?

Newbie that doesn’t drive? - thought everyone joining has to drive now since 2010?
Reportedly in some areas they're so desperate for staff that they're taking on people with provisional licences.

Is it true they have started taking on non drivers in some offices because it’s that bad?

It means more mail will be released when it knows there's another scannable item for the same address, either a large letter or a parcel etc so it won't hold a dts item until it's time has expired as currently those items aren't accounted for so basically think of it as working smarter as opposed to working harder.

No, I'm delivering the whole time, refill the HTC multiple times, DM26 you get more than one round to deliver, and even if some of it is regarded as light you still are walking the same ground most of the time.

It depends where you work in terms of traffic profile, size of rounds, etc. I had 107 Tracked on my HCT yesterday, and I cleared on Thursday. We have no replenishment duties in my unit, so we have to return to the office to pick up anything we can't fit in the trolley. This is higher than usual, especially for August, but I've had more than 70 every day this week.

Anyone aged under 52 get out now while you can still get something else, the job gets worse every few years I’m just hopefully seeing out another couple of years till pension if I can wait that long
What’s the relevance of 52?
Still young enough to retrain as you get closer to and pass 60 getting a new job is a lot harder
