Royal Mail would love a 9-5 model for parcels but the union has stopped this now on four occasions dating back to 2017.

Normal duties. We have been starting at 8.40 to 16.35 on latest day for over 3 years already. The 2 into 5 will make our days longer again but it won’t be possible to start earlier, therefore taking us past 5pm. Northern Ireland.TopperGas wrote: ↑04 Jun 2026, 19:47For normal duties or just DPR's? Roughly where are you based in the UK?Pfrizzy10 wrote: ↑04 Jun 2026, 19:00You’ve stopped nothing. Re: 2 in 5
We have an official finish time for FT'ers of 1700. But the way they get round it is by saying FT'ers only take 20 mins break so can take 20 mins at the end, so that makes it 1640, then you've got 10 mins to square your crap away so that makes your theoretical arrival time at the office of 1630. Then 10 mins travel back from last drop, so that makes your last letter 1620.....Sean06 wrote: ↑04 Jun 2026, 20:26Is last letter not offically 16-30Pfrizzy10 wrote: ↑04 Jun 2026, 20:04Normal duties. Does the duty length change for a 30 hour PT going from a 1 in 6 duty pattern to 2 in 5
This ain't no baseball game, you get only one chance and you blew it.

Re: 2 in 5
From what I've seen communication around PT contracts has been scarce to zero. There may be opportunity for some PT to increase hours or go FT. Lots will remain on PT 30 hours, those I would think would still just do 6 hours ish a day. If it becomes much less than 6 then the effectiveness of the shift is too reduced, especially with more work to do and less staff in the building.

Re: 2 in 5
Surely their duty span would have to increase as well to make up for the extra days off.
But I could be wrong
