No worries - I don’t know your role within RM, so I won’t comment regarding your daily. I’ve many friends still working within RM, many I talk with on a weekly, I also know many employees who’ve never held any other job other than RM, some in their 60’s. It’s them I think about, to some Royal Mail is not only a job but an existence.
If I annoy you with opinions, I apologise, but my heart is in the right place and this agreement isn’t directed towards folk committed to the business in my opinion
We both know RM employ too many managers for the job, it’s time they felt a change, not the leg workers that carry the business.

You are correct about the managers , way to many of them and overpaid for what they do ,mightyowler wrote: ↑23 Apr 2023, 16:42No worries - I don’t know your role within RM, so I won’t comment regarding your daily. I think once they have finished destroying our terms and conditions they will go after them next to save even more money .

Sat in your cushy warm M/C clueless and condescending to the realities of this horrendous deal and what it poses for the majority.
Consumers want to order stuff off the Internet on a Friday night and have it delivered when they are at home on a weekend.
Here is the news for you on that BS. Consumers don't give a toss when its delivered, they just want it delivered in a timely fashion. "Consumers" do not want to stay in on a weekend, they have normal lives and go out and do stuff.
I get more no answers on a Saturday afternoon than any other day of the week for that reason. If it was about getting parcels to people as efficiently as possible we would still be delivering most mail pre1200hrs, end off.

If anyone has any doubts over voting no, ask yourself why the CWU HQ didn't have a Facebook live session the same day it was announced to inform the members on this agreement.
That's because they know it's a flop.

A bigger lump sum, say £1,000 and a bit more on years 2 and 3 would have got a yes vote from me. I think we should have got about 4.5% year 2 followed by 3.5% year 3. I'm in delivery and I know what a days work really is. Our shift allowance should be higher too.

I agree. Too many of them on more money than what they used to get and little responsibility for maintaining the USO. That needs to change.mightyowler wrote: ↑23 Apr 2023, 16:42No worries - I don’t know your role within RM, so I won’t comment regarding your daily. The business really need to get operational managers out on deliveries. There's too many of them living the life of Riley sat at their desks in offices when we have gone out. They should be prepared to cover any duty, the work that we do is mainly outdoors now.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Why do DOs need more than 1 manager in the office once everyone has headed out on their walks?

There are, apparently, many boxes to be ticked on the many forms that 'need' to be filled.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑24 Apr 2023, 07:56Why do DOs need more than 1 manager in the office once everyone has headed out on their walks?
In fairness, you'd ideally want at least two managers in case one had to leave the office because of an emergency (it doesn't happen often, but it can). But in terms of actual useful work, as opposed to RM's self-imposed paper-pushing exercises in 'accountability', there's not a deal for them to do, except for any DPT?LAT manager, who will have real work to do - but obviously not all offices have them.

Consumers generally want their parcels beamed into their living rooms because a lot of them order so much stuff they actually forget what they order. That's the majority that I deliver to. Some don't even answer their doors because they're scared it's a debt collector! So do they want everything they order the next day? They aren't bothered as far as I can tell.milly wrote: ↑23 Apr 2023, 17:56Consumers want their Parcels delivered when they are at home which in the main would be late afternoon or weekends.Flashman_ wrote: ↑23 Apr 2023, 17:50milly wrote: ↑23 Apr 2023, 16:10I've been on Deliveries and if the job is so terrible look for something else because at some point in the future you will be working similar hours to our competitors.steve2zaf wrote: ↑23 Apr 2023, 16:05His advice is much more appreciated than some one like yourself who has no idea what this means to the walking postie.aiden01 wrote: ↑23 Apr 2023, 15:53Another ex-employee telling us how to votemilly wrote: ↑23 Apr 2023, 15:47Don't when you last worked for Royal Mail but they are now taking Machines out of Mail Centres and have been for a few years.mightyowler wrote: ↑23 Apr 2023, 15:00Over the years many ballots have been dictated by the votes of postman, how it should be considering it’s the harshest role in RM. Just because you think this way don't assume everyone else does. Reality seems to be a very different way to how you think things happen.
