No you don't get £500 in the back pockets it's pro rata ie how many hours you are contractually employed for and the tax man will get 33% of it the more you earn the more the tax!

Unless the £500 puts you over the threshold of £50,270 into the 40% tax bracket you don't pay any more tax than the 20% rate.
I can't understand some people's logic.
People complain about the tax on the lump sum but not on the payrise .

It’s basically a weeks wage.
That’s it.
A weeks wage bonus and an extra £17 or so more in your weekly wage.

And majority people in our mail centre think its a good deal.

Lot of them have never done a delivery,so they have no idea the difference between that and barely doing F,all in the Mail Centre.

Wouldnt last a week on delivery most of them,maybe their should be a swap so postman have six months on delivery then swap and work in the mail centre,then get the mail centre staff out on delivery too

Non-consolidated lump sums are not pensionable but appreciate where you're coming from wrt to pro-rata and NI/tax......

RM have always over employed on the management front, especially in the mail centres. Every dispute management have with RM, they seem to benefit, how much is that costing the business? I’m sure it was mentioned years back RM was reducing the managers but has it happened?

Worst deal of the century, just concerned with Union non de-recognition at any price.
Not prone to threats of leaving the Union but if this goes through I may find it simply too much to stomach.

I've been on Deliveries and if the job is so terrible look for something else because at some point in the future you will be working similar hours to our competitors.
Consumers want to order stuff off the Internet on a Friday night and have it delivered when they are at home on a weekend.
