Also no one's mentioned that sick pay has basically been gutted.

The first period of sickness you'll get full sick pay.

But any other instance of sickness you'll receive no money for the first 3 days of any sickness in the next 12 months.

So basically you won't get paid for any short term sickness.
It’s been happening in the private sector for years. Will stop the piss takers, won’t help the genuine cases.

I know too many people who see their sick entitlement as part of their annual leave, the piss-takers have spoiled for people who are genuinely ill.

Hopefully the proposed 30 minute flexibility part will be ditched by the cwu. This on top of seasonal variations means last letter 5pm in winter. Also during summer you'll get 30 minutes insread of 40 minute meal relief.

The Union should negotiate a deal for Union members ONLY, the strike breakers and non-union members should have whatever RM gives them.
What a pathetic comment! I never broke a strike but don't certainly dont hold any resentment for the guys & girls that did. Get a life!!!
Why is it a pathetic comment?
He's perfectly entitled to his own opinion.

I dare say that there are very many who feel the same.

You obviously disagree & you feel it's your right to diss him?
At least he has the courage to speak up!

How would you feel if 'the shoe was on the other foot'?
Give your head a wobble!!! Idiot!

When will this happen?
The parasites as you call them are not your colleagues, they are the Central Banks, Big Corporations and the ruling classes who do their bidding.
Too many people fall for the divide and conquer routine, thereby letting the perpetrators fleece us whilst going unnoticed.
Wow! Some people just don't even realise!

Very clever of them to give an Option A and Option B.

Frames the discussion around those two options.

Tricks the brain into thinking they are the only 2 options, when really option C is "wtf - these are disgusting choices and you should feel ashamed for the way you've treated your loyal workers, you're proposing two nearly identical substantial pay cuts with worse conditions".

The illusion of choice is a neat trick though. Don't tell your kid they have to vacuum, instead ask them if they want to vacuum before or after dinner. It's like you become a jedi.

Aside from that, a 10% pay rise over 3 years is much worse pay cut than the previous offer of 9% over 2 years.

Well the other option is implementing it without the pay rise and shafting us all did you not think of that a lion looks nice till you get your head bitten off!

That sick change will just lead to poor behaviours and more sick days being taken. First time you're genuinely sick you might as well stretch it out for max sick pay, and any times after that, again if genuine, you might as well take the 2nd week since 3 days of the first week were unpaid. That's how it'll play out.

Seasonal variation rolls out this autumn so for 15 weeks a full timer will work an extra 2 hours a week 30 hours in total for nothing as we will not have had the pleasure of doing the short week’s in the summer. What a con!

Exactly. How many people have two episodes of sickness in one yr, don't think I ever have. The pxxs takers will just have the full week off for their second sickness so only forego three days pay. Most have lost 4 or 5 times that striking this year anyway so can afford it.

But if you're still with royal mail next summer you'll get it back. It's gotta start somewhere. As long as when you finish or leave you've done one of each where's the problem.

Seems a lot of people on here are desperately trying to find problems with everything about the 'deal' without really thinking objectively about it all.

I don’t think anyone is “desperately” trying to find problems. It’s a crap deal, both options on the pay rise are well below what should be acceptable, the ‘strings’ are unacceptable and the simple fact that RM have shown time and time again that too much is never enough for them. They’ll be back before the ink is dry for everything they didn’t get.
