No , calling strikes will end our bargaining power , while the threat of strikes is still there the union can still push for an agreement.Everyone has different opinions but nearly a year of strikes has done nothing but lose us money so far.daveyeff wrote: ↑31 Mar 2023, 20:43You,ve just contradicted yourself.strikes are a bargaining tool, but you say strikes will end any bargaining. Re: Some progress has been made.
A lot of the damages have been done in many offices. Most of us now have duties that are far too long and more people will go on sick because of the added stress.
I don't buy into the old "You have a start and finish time" because although it's true it doesn't avoid the confrontation with the manager every single working day to tell them you will be leaving a row or two. It's also not great when the minority reply with "Well change your job then!!". A lot of us are in a position where we can't just change our job straight away due to age etc.
The Union should also insist that any executive action changes that have already happened in the last few months should be reversed.

That’s your opinion, it’s not the opinion of lots in my office that are weary from it all and despite backing their union , want this sorted and don’t really want to strike anymore.daveyeff wrote: ↑31 Mar 2023, 20:5318 days is nowhere near a year.....its dragged on this long simply because we haven't been on strike enough.chickenwittle wrote: ↑31 Mar 2023, 20:49No , calling strikes will end our bargaining power , while the threat of strikes is still there the union can still push for an agreement.Everyone has different opinions but nearly a year of strikes has done nothing but lose us money so far.daveyeff wrote: ↑31 Mar 2023, 20:43You,ve just contradicted yourself.strikes are a bargaining tool, but you say strikes will end any bargaining. Re: Some progress has been made.
Again there’s a difference between a strike mandate and strike action, most would have voted to empower their union in negotiations, striking would have been a last resort which many would rather avoid.daveyeff wrote: ↑31 Mar 2023, 21:01It's also the opinion of many thousands of members who voted to take "strike action"chickenwittle wrote: ↑31 Mar 2023, 20:59That’s your opinion, it’s not the opinion of lots in my office that are weary from it all and despite backing their union , want this sorted and don’t really want to strike anymore.daveyeff wrote: ↑31 Mar 2023, 20:5318 days is nowhere near a year.....its dragged on this long simply because we haven't been on strike enough.chickenwittle wrote: ↑31 Mar 2023, 20:49No , calling strikes will end our bargaining power , while the threat of strikes is still there the union can still push for an agreement.Everyone has different opinions but nearly a year of strikes has done nothing but lose us money so far.daveyeff wrote: ↑31 Mar 2023, 20:43You,ve just contradicted yourself.strikes are a bargaining tool, but you say strikes will end any bargaining. Re: Some progress has been made.
The union and its members are imploding.
You only have to look at the twitter feed to see how much anger it’s members have.
Some want a good pay deal.
Some want the hours to not change.
Some want revisions to be cancelled.
This is probably the biggest dispute since I started nearly 20 years ago and the union have just been out played and out fought.
Poorly timed strikes. Cancelled strikes. Pointless one day strikes. Months and months of talking but no deal. Some members want to strike. Others don’t.
I remember months ago on this forum someone linked a piece where ST supposedly told the managers that changes should be forced now because the union isn’t at one with what they want themselves.
He was right. RM will get what they want and the union will still try to cling on to some kind of hollow victory.
I’m glad I didn’t lose wages and I’m super glad I don’t pay £3 a week for that kind of service.

The focus now has to be around the 3rd ballot and Christmas strikes. CWU should Set the stall out in September and say to RM, if we don't get an acceptable agreement, it'll be an all out strike for all of December
