Not in my remit to quit before shallow people of dubious means
And the moral qualities the likes of jimmy savile shafting us all the time
Make a stand now or be forever regretful that you did not
It is better to have a cause than to have a reason for a cause
Death is better than have nothing else to do with the world
I say NO

Re: Are you going to apply for the redundancy on offer?
I think it's a bit of a catch 22. It seems a lot of people who are saying they'd take the RM offer, probably wouldn't even get a sniff of a chance under the MTSF.Acca Dacca wrote: ↑18 Nov 2022, 16:30The previous VR preference exercises would have been based on the 2 years MTSF payout thoughBob Cooney wrote: ↑18 Nov 2022, 15:09Been at least 2 VR preferences exercises that I can remember so nothing new apart from the amount being slashed /serving notice on current agreements
The strike plan and general campaign is what's weakened the unions hand not this.
People right now registering they would accept these inferior terms DOES weaken the unions hand when it comes to getting a better payout than whats being offered
If 6000 or more people say they would take what RM are offering what is then the unions argument to get more?
There isnt one.
Thats part of the reason its so damaging engaging in the process right now
It's not as if the union can get a better redundancy deal and then RM letting everyone who wants it, can have it.

Re: Are you going to apply for the redundancy on offer?
A lot of people are applying for this VR package, not because they think that it is a great deal, but because they are planning to quit RM anyway. The changes that are going to be imposed by RM make the job one that they aren't prepared to do, so they may as well leave with something rather than nothing.

Re: Are you going to apply for the redundancy on offer?
yeah, Royal Mail are going to be paying people £6,000 to £8,000 (assuming they go for cheapest option) that have come into the business as a stop-gap and who are looking to go anyway. Complete waste of money.
Just do it through natural wastage.
If I knew where this company was going to end up in the next months / year, then I could make an easy decision. But as it is up in the air - then I have to side on assuming a fair deal will be struck.
I think if my seniority was looking precarious then I'd maybe just take the money as they might get rid of me on the cheap later. But I believe my depot is 30 staff short as it is and there are at least 25 people less senior than me. So even if they ended up doing some mass culling of staff - I'd probably be safe.

What I wish I knew is, what is the criteria for deciding who gets it and who doesn't. There must be enough people with under 2 years service that they could just let go and not have to pay out a penny. People that keep going sick or bad attendance records? Again, just get rid on a stage 3 and out of the door. Natural wastage? Plenty or people quitting daily. So, who do they want to get rid of that they are willing to pay over and above the statuatory redundancy? Me hopefully.

Re: Are you going to apply for the redundancy on offer?
Ive only been at RM for 6 months so keep wondering if i will be let go. Im already on a s**t contact which includes Sundays, annualised hours etc so i think it will be cheaper for them to keep me on in the long run compared to others who have been there years on old terms and conditions but who knows, its all just a guesswork. Im already looking for a new job though. Realised after a month it wouldnt be a good long term career. Walking 12+ miles a day 5 days a week isnt sustainable and with all the added uncertainty im keeping my options open.

Under 2 years they could just let you go with no redundancy, that doesn't seem to be their plan.Darwin wrote: ↑19 Nov 2022, 16:48Ive only been at RM for 6 months so keep wondering if i will be let go. Re: Are you going to apply for the redundancy on offer?
My understanding is i dont apply as ive not worked there for 2 or more years. Even if i could i wouldnt. Only been there 6 months so there's no pay off in that, id rather keep my job at RM to buy me time to find something better. Only good thing is my DO is closed on Sundays so ive never actually had to do a sunday shift but when they decide to open on Sunday i will need to do it.

Hi
How long does the process take once you have been offered VR.

Anyone with under 2years service isn’t entitled to receive any pay. Re: Are you going to apply for the redundancy on offer?
Yeah but hes saying if it was just about reducing the headcount then they could just get rid of a number of those with less than 2 years for nothing without offering VRs so its more about reducing the number with certain contracts than reducing the headcountKaiser_soze wrote: ↑19 Nov 2022, 19:06Anyone with under 2years service isn’t entitled to receive any pay. If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next
