Re: RMCtv : Simon 'Foghorn Leghorn' Thompson on todays meeting with the CWU
Something that's important to cover off is that we're looking to enhance the commit to deliver principle, whereby if you're allocated some work for a route on a day, we would want that work to be completed. So if we look at our competitors, they wouldn't cut off and return to the Depo. With some work outstanding. What we're looking for within the really flexible hours approach is to have that ability to flex on the day outside of those scheduled hours. So that if there are variations from day to day, we complete that work. And if we go over the scheduled time, we bank those hours

I've read the proposals.sindba wrote: ↑01 Oct 2022, 10:20You won't be "going over your time" though.Dexydog wrote: ↑01 Oct 2022, 10:14Commit to deliver is just 3 words put together.
If making you work 2 hours over your time on a particularly busy day is illegal, the union need to be saying so.
Then it can be put to bed, or not.
RM haven't said what our hours will be- they probably don't even know.
It's all smoke and mirrors, disinformation, and quite frankly is one of the reasons the dispute is going nowhere.
It's pathetic on both sides, really.
Your working hours will be determined by your manager.
Honestly, read RM's proposals
That's all they are, proposals.
Are they legal?- that's the whole point I'm making.

The Two Biggest problems from my POV .... Regardless of whatever RM are coming out with are:
No1: TRUST There is none in this Business anymore.
No2: Incompetent Managers: It won't matter what RM & CWU agree , most Managers are incaple of running their DOs.

So let's break the wording down.sindba wrote: ↑01 Oct 2022, 10:29

"Principal".
"Want".
"Looking for".
Further, how do they know what happens with our "competitors"- loose term, as we don't have anyone else that do what we do.
It's all just words.
It's all what THEY "want".
Additionally, that statement uses the words "outside of those scheduled hours"- so that's them admitting we have set hours; the same statement is how they see us flexing outside those hours.
It isn't legal, I'm pretty sure of that.
The union need to come out and say if it is, or isn't.
They have lawyers, use them for God's sake.

They are telling us thats what they want the job to look like in the future you have to use "words" to talk to people how else they gonna tell us,its a very serious assault on our terms and conditions.

Any new contract would have to abide by employee contract law
What do you not get about that concept?

Royal mail financial position no matter what happens between now and xmas are in a mess simon already knows this in my opinion he is going to plough ahead with the changes no matter what after xmas they will issue a profit warning suspend the dividend go to ofcom regarding down grading the delivery of letters mon to friday the problem he will have he will have a pissed off workforce and management team when they wake up to what is happening to deal with, this situation we are in is mainly simons fault for giving away £400 million to shareholders and throwing £200 out of the window buying back our own shares at premium prices when he knew what he was going to propose would lead to a reaction in the share price total incomitance.

You can work up to 48 hours a week at moment most contracts are 35 hours now average,i dont want to work 13 hours a week more...thats just a week not the month can you imagine 11-12 hour days in december and thats abiding by your contract law.

Re: RMCtv : Simon 'Foghorn Leghorn' Thompson on todays meeting with the CWU
You can sign out of EU law, that states you only have to work a MAXIMUM of 48 hours, to allow you to work more if you wish.
The law doesn't say you HAVE to work 48 hours a week.
So no matter RM think they want, you won't have to do 48 hours if you don't want to do so.
They very simply cannot make you.

But ST wants our union to agree to the longer hours in the winter and shorter in the summer which simon said himself you could be working up to 44 hours in the winter which we all know could mean more, thats what he is wanting were not just making this up thats what he wants, some one who is on 30 hours contract will be put on a new contract of flexi time.
