Everyone needs to consider the possibility the business could easily go under.
If the next strikes go ahead we will lose a LOT of business.
If we don't get that business back, what then?
Thompson obviously knows this too.
I just think EVERYONE needs to be aware of the potential consequences of their actions.
OK Simon thinks that it is his business to run in the way that he sees fit. Wrong! It is the shareholders' business and he is simply an employee tasked with maximising the return on their investment.

If the business goes under then he has failed spectacularly. He has lost every penny of the shareholders money. The work, however, will still be there but will have to be done by other businesses. They will need staff to do it.

There are jobs galore out there at the moment if the worst comes to the worst. Have faith and fight the fight to ensure that this particular job remains one worth doing - the job that we each actually applied to do.
I don’t know how people on here don’t realise this.

There’s simply no way shareholders will let him destroy their investment.

I know what I am on about our cut our future in this business
What cut and what future are you going to have if there is no business.
Simon doesn't care. He will still be rich.
Your just a defeatist sorry but cannot accept 2% and imposed change just because one rich guy says so, If Simon said too all three of us lets jump out of the window you can go first simon will say to me your next I am not going a tussle will ensue grab his I phone 14 with his share account on it chuck it out the window and he falls out. Thing is I am still alive even if Royal Mail crumbles or who the CEO is or it ceased to exist in it's changed form I will find employment and not slavery!

I doubt his career will ever recover if RM go bust from his actions and he doesn't look young enough just to retire like Fred the Shread did when RBS went bust.

He is only destroying Royal mail (UK)
He isn't destroying GLS.
If all they want is GLS without the burden of Royal Mail he is doing exactly what they want.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

With royal mails most important time coming up, you would have thought, they would have at least looked like they were trying to get Deal done. Simon needs to understand that he can't have everything he wants and needs to negotiate. We won't except a complete destruction of our jobs as we know them.

Judging by ST’s flow of bizarre posts on Workplace this morning - he might be wilting towards some sort of deal.

The repost of a suggested solution involving 8% being a key one.
The only deal I would accept now is a deal which included Simon Thompson’s mandatory resignation.
We can’t move forward when 115,000+ staff not only don’t trust you; they think you are a complete liar & actively resent you.
He has to go.

They don't want a deal. They are not interested in dealing with the union any more, hence the tearing up of all agreements.

If Royal Mail wanted to prevent the strikes they would have challenged it in court like they did before. The reality is how the situation is playing out now is all part of the narrative they have set out.

When the government is forced to okay the takeover bid because strikes are bringing the ongoing viability of the business into question, then the fire and rehire of all the staff will begin. You either accept a job on their terms or you leave.

This will solve a multitude of problems for Royal Mail, it'll reduce the head count of staff as a good percentage will just quit, it will also depower the union, and it'll save them a fortune on staff costs with lesser pay/t&c's

Why are we getting such exaggerated opinions from the CWU and some of the more militant members?

Someone talking about not accepting slavery or that we have to work to finish or every Sunday or we are losing all allowances etc. I don't recognise any of these extremes in my job at all; even a 2 percent no strings will not turn this job into a slave master situation.

Some of us might well do better elsewhere but giving the numbers involved, the competition will be fierce amongst ourselves to even get jobs that are similar, worse, temporary or in the gig economy.

People wanting to destroy royal mail or obsessed with Simon Thomson and his cronies should be careful what they wish for.

Why are people so trusting of the CWU? Trade unions are great but this particular one is overreaching and too political and is going well beyond its remit in a changing world and in its dealings with a PLC...

What are the CWU negotiating for on our behalf? Does anyone know for sure?

* Commit to deliver?
* Annualised hours?

Doesn't affect MCs very much but will have a MASSIVE impact on DOs

Simon Thompson is an utter cretin.
