A few days ago I first saw the phrase " our business to run" displayed on a photograph of a large screen at a motivational ( or childish) themed presentation for some of Simon's team.

Today , I again see the phrase "our business to run" used at the end of an update Simon was providing to HIS team on the outcome of the meeting with the CWU. This time the words "that's the way it's going to be" are added.

It is clear that this phrase or mission statement, reveals the thinking and attitude of Simon.

Be in no doubt Simon and HIS team believe Royal Mail is THEIR business and they believe they can do and will do whatever they want and that is the way it's going to be.
Well if he continues in that vain there maybe no business left by Christmas!

And then what?

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Most reasonable people would agree to terms all we are demanding is our share of the cut like the top brass has had ie the Ceo the Chairman and Directors and the others Shareholders and their £400 Million. May I remind you we put our lives at risk to make these profits by working through the COVID-19 pandemic. If losing a few days pay to gain our cut is not your cup of tea you could leave the business or go the management route it is your choice we don't force people to strike or vote at gun point for our ideals and rights!

I don't know what you are on about.
I simply asked you what happens if there is no business left by Christmas.
If you don't know or hadn't considered the possibility just say so.

Everyone needs to consider the possibility the business could easily go under.
If the next strikes go ahead we will lose a LOT of business.
If we don't get that business back, what then?
Thompson obviously knows this too.
I just think EVERYONE needs to be aware of the potential consequences of their actions.

His 'agenda for growth' is apparently to break up the company and pay as little as he can get away with....

of course we're not going to agree with that.

Well him saying it his business is a bit rich but how do I know how many shares he got bunged?
As to not having a business by Christmas what would you do if your business could not guarantee delivery by Christmas?

OK Simon thinks that it is his business to run in the way that he sees fit. Wrong! It is the shareholders' business and he is simply an employee tasked with maximising the return on their investment.

If the business goes under then he has failed spectacularly. He has lost every penny of the shareholders money. The work, however, will still be there but will have to be done by other businesses. They will need staff to do it.

There are jobs galore out there at the moment if the worst comes to the worst. Have faith and fight the fight to ensure that this particular job remains one worth doing - the job that we each actually applied to do.

I do have faith, and for what it's worth I 100% think we need to stand up.
I was just commenting on others thoughts on what happens if the company goes under.
Yes you might argue its Thompson that needs to consider this more.
But we, also, should consider the consequences of our actions.
Not looking for an argument, just being pragmatic, and realistic.

I know what I am on about our cut our future in this business simon thompson can play games all day long but time is running out for him. If there is no business after christmas it will be his fault because he cannot abide by agreements passed by votes of CWU members nor recompense them like shareholders or themselves. How hard can it be for Simon Thompson too say I was wrong here is 8% and will abide by ALL AGREEMENTS.

What cut and what future are you going to have if there is no business.
Simon doesn't care. He will still be rich.
