Hi!
So basically what happened was that my friend posted a package for me from UK (contains only few soft toys, animal plushies) using International Tracked. When it got to Hungary, it was immediately sent back to UK and now it seems to be lost/stuck in transit.
I asked the hungarian post, why was it sent back, and they told me the address was not clear for it to be delivered and I was too slow to contact them about it.
The tracking number is LP148074359GB, and it only says that "Item received, United Kingdom". What does that even mean?
My friend called the RM Customer Service, and it was no help, they said it is probably lost (it has been over 20 business days since it was posted) and just adviced to submit a claim for it.
Is there anything that could help us to get the package back?

That entry makes me think that it's not yet cleared UK customs.

Is it because of the strikes and all those delays?
Since it is a package being returned to the sender, it is not prioritized and may just be sitting somewhere at customs?

This exactly.
However, if you fill out a compensation form like the call centre suggested there is a chance the parcel can be located or identified and returned to you or even sent on to the original delivery address. When filling out the form be as details as possible, especially describing the parcel and its contents.

Re: Parcel stuck in transit for 5 weeks
Thank you for all the information!
Now the tracking has finally updated with a message saying "Delivered to PO Box by National Return Centre".
What should I do now?
My friend says there is no return address on the package, is there any way to contact National Return Centre?

If you fill in a lost parcel form then the NRC will use that to match the sender with the contents.

Hi!
Update on this, the sender received a letter from Royal Mail stating that they will get compensation for the package (the value stated in the claim shee made earlier, when the customer service told her, the package is lost).
What happens now, that she got the compensation money? The tracking has updated and the package is in the National Return Centre, is there still a chance to receive the package? Since the claim she made was closed due to gettin compensation, what will happen to the package?
Can we do anything to get it back?
