Normally they go together years of service and age. I would say if it’s offered and it’s right for you take it.It’s normally done on a seniority basis.

Zero chance of any significant VR offerings in Deliveries.
Offices are already run on a less than skeleton staff level as it is, any job losses can easily be accounted for by RM not replacing natural wastage, which certainly feels like it is higher than ever before as it is.
Anyone hoping for a nice juicy VR package as a way out is deluding themselves and are going to be waiting an awfully long time.

They save VR for managers who've been there for years, who are as useful as a chocolate teapot! Two years salary, thank you very much, they're then replace by kids out of uni, who are wet behind the ears, wandering around with crib sheets, trying to give you absorption when you have double mail! F*&#wits!!!!

It's the same in all industries.neviboss wrote: ↑13 Sep 2022, 09:39They save VR for managers who've been there for years, who are as useful as a chocolate teapot! Whenever savings need to be made in any business it's only ever the managers who get VR whilst it never gets offered to any of the lower downs and shop-floor workers... which says a lot about just which set of employees are most essential to the running of the business in the first place.
You would think by now all these businesses might have figured out that layers and layers of middle managers, assistant managers, deputy managers etc etc, aren't actually necessary at all, but their pointless non-job roles all still seem to exist.

To be honest, I didn't find it that way.Postmangit wrote: ↑12 Sep 2022, 17:34I found that letter rather threatening to be honest. When he says thousands of jobs could be going if the strikes carry on, then that will cost them making them all redundant???
Then again, I didn't find it any way at all since I never got it. Or the one they sent last week. Or my most recent payslip. Or actually any post at all since last Wednesday....

I assumed from the letter that the redundancies would be aimed at the "cheaper" staff. Less than 2 years and they can get rid of you for nothing, after that it's a week's pay for each year of service (or half a week per year if you started at 18.) They could drop everyone who's done 4-5 years and it would cost considerably less than a few VRs for the old guard

Or play the long game, keep the newer staff who are on inferior terms and are less likely to go off sick with bad backs and knees etc, and take the hit get the older expensive to run staff gone as cheaply as possible ( theres a calculator on the gov website for redundancies.Kenfandango wrote: ↑13 Sep 2022, 15:11I assumed from the letter that the redundancies would be aimed at the "cheaper" staff. To do that they would have to rip up the MTSF agreement.Kenfandango wrote: ↑13 Sep 2022, 15:11I assumed from the letter that the redundancies would be aimed at the "cheaper" staff.
Which is entirely possible ........
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Any idea what the letter from HR is about today? I never open them just "RTS Refused ".... but it's always nice to know what I'm Refusing!

Yep. About 15 vacancies in my office and no plans to recruit. Also, haven’t a lot of recent contracts got an end date so they can choose not to renew them and reduce headcount that way.wacko74 wrote: ↑13 Sep 2022, 09:27Zero chance of any significant VR offerings in Deliveries.
