As a p/t worker there's no chance I'll be taking part in an o/t ban as if I did that them I'd be losing around 50% of my pay,

you took the job as p/t? so now what? rm promised you the world?

As a part timer I will happily strike, cut off, not do any overtime. Who would want to do any favours for the company whilst they are trying to reduce our real terms pay and our terms and conditions. This company has no respect for you. We need to fight and hope they change their ways.

Cannot understand how backlog is cleared my mc is absolutely rammed an i understand bristol mc is same so no doubt will be coming to your do on mon or tues maybe even wedensday..how is ft still getting there ft pay??TopperGas wrote: ↑02 Sep 2022, 21:32As a p/t worker there's no chance I'll be taking part in an o/t ban as if I did that them I'd be losing around 50% of my pay, whilst a f/t'er will be still getting their f/t pay. The whole IA saga is a bit of a joke, as do the general public even know we're on strike when all the backlog is cleared in a day or two.world class male wrote: ↑02 Sep 2022, 21:22i know 2 d/o's are not the same but the general feeling at ours is that the odd day, or 2 next week won't effect rm's railroad, 95% clear today after an hammering,
too many backing the strikes are on more money even now with the strike days mopping up overtime, easy parcel runs after duty, and who can blame them when nothing is said to all who take overtime inc the early starts, who's to blame?
i can only think of cwu'hq for not adding "action short of strike" to the ballot papers, they knew this and were told but beforehand and they flatly refused this form of action, and quite frankly an 100% overtime ban would bring rm to it's knees where nobody loses a penny, just some don't profit from our dispute,
this coming from a 100% working class union background bloke,
the cwu must ballot again very soon for an overtime ban in nov/dec or we've lost
cwu like their social media, hammer them with an overtime ban feed

Re: CWU Postal Executive
this is the response we need, I've been a postie 17 yrs and way more than half of it a p/t reserve due to no f/t so totally understand the situation but you should always be ok to live on your basic pay, i know some both f/t & p/t who always have had to rely on overtime to live, right or wrong that's not the way to me, we all get the same hit on strikes %wisenorris9 wrote: ↑02 Sep 2022, 22:17As a part timer I will happily strike, cut off, not do any overtime. As a part-timer taking an overtime ban doesn't mean just working say 24 hours a week. You still do the full shift you are on, on any given day.TopperGas wrote: ↑02 Sep 2022, 21:32

Re: CWU Postal Executive
How can a part timer be ok to live on their basic pay? The reason we’re striking is RM paid us a 2% pay rise when inflation is rampant and has been for months. The reality that so many full timers on here dismiss, is that part timers are shafted every which way. They earn 2/3’s (if their lucky) what a f/t earns, and everything is pro rata. Most p/t’ers needed to work overtime just to pay their bills before inflation exploded, now some on here are denigrating part timers for trying to survive. I work three days a week. Next week I will be working one. No overtime as it’s already being covered by full timers whose faces fit. Tell me how I am going to pay my rent and buy food one one days wages. Give us a break from going on about people doing overtime, concentrate on what happens when the poorest are forced to decide what is more important, their principles or their childrenworld class male wrote: ↑02 Sep 2022, 22:35this is the response we need, I've been a postie 17 yrs and way more than half of it a p/t reserve due to no f/t so totally understand the situation but you should always be ok to live on your basic pay,

The clue is in the name with this job part time.so you shouldn't be doing this job if it's your only source of income. And I'm afraid any part time worker hoping for full time would be better looking for a full time job in another company because you won't get one with Royal Mail.

Re: CWU Postal Executive
I get the reasoning and rationale behind an overtime ban, but in the real world how could it work? How would you even begin to police it?
In even a medium sized DO we can't keep track of the little deals here and there orJohnny taking his car out behind his partner so he can go straight to his dental appointment later.
How would you ensure no one was doing any overtime? Union rep checking everyone's pouches before they go out? Signing them back in with a clipboard and staying behind for free to remonstrate with the docket boys upon their return?
And what about the runners belting around their duty and ghosting their overtime in their duty time? Here, is Johnny working his rest day on overtime? No, apparently he owed his mate the lino a day from a while back which he's swapped due to the lateral Equinox not being aligned with the short wave mystical cunnybunny balanced on the perstop paradigm. Ahem, erm, no, Johnny's definitely not working his day off on overtime.
It's bollocks. An overtime ban sounds great, but in practice it'd be as futile as telling people not to come in early for free. And just as impossible to monitor.
At least a picket line is clear and defined as to who crosses it and who doesn't. An overtime ban would be impossible to verify who was complying and who wasn't.

Your spot on there. Some units don’t even have reps so you couldn’t even police it even if you wanted to.crimson king wrote: ↑03 Sep 2022, 05:31I get the reasoning and rationale behind an overtime ban, but in the real world how could it work? How would you even begin to police it?

Re: CWU Postal Executive
So who is the person appointed to police this? A postie? Rep (also a postie)? There are many who suggest that "someone" should do this/"someone" should do that, but firstly, in almost cases the suggester never puts THEIR name forwardcrimson king wrote: ↑03 Sep 2022, 05:31I get the reasoning and rationale behind an overtime ban, but in the real world how could it work?
