Simon Thompson previously ran Covid Track & Trace, he'll cause strikes as a favour to the Gov's inner circle

Post by cheerful »

My pet theory:

Simon Thompson was given the job to run Covid Track and Trace, at a time the Government was giving jobs to mates.

Then he became boss of RM.

His future career / income doesn't depend on how well RM do, it depends on how well he pleases his real bosses, and what juicy jobs he can do for them in the future.

My theory is that the posties can ask for a 5% rise or a 25% rise, it doesn't matter. If Simon's government friends want posties to strike, he'll keep offering us bad deals, if his government friends want peace, he'll be told to end the strikes.

I'm guessing the next Tory leader will decide what will happen:
  • if they want to project an aura of calm and control, they'll tell Simon to stop the strikes
  • but they'll tell him to keep up with the strikes if it'll help them (to take headlines away from the cost of living crisis, skeletons in their closet, or because Labour is getting bad PR for being either too neutral or too supportive of the strikes)

not gunna argue with any of that.....infact if you use "workplace" (what a crock of propaganda sh£t that is) ive thought he has been pushing for a strike....everything he types is to wind workers up.
i can honestly say ive not seen once an attempt from him to avert any strike

then on strike day getting his press team to try an photo management doing our work saying to work is still being done was the biggest p6ss take ever

Interesting points, but not sure whether the Tories are that interested in our strikes to be honest. They flogged RM off cheaply and wiped their hands.

Our aim is to make the big parcel customers and shareholders put pressure on he who shall not be named to get it sorted
under the threat of the big profitable contracts disappearing.

Can't say the public that I spoke to on Saturday were that up in arms about the strike, yes they knew it was
happening and were sympathetic/supportive but not getting your gardening catalogue on the Friday doesn't really inconvenience people
and get people's ire up to the same degree as not being able to get the train/bus to work as per RMT/Arriva strikes or the bins emptied.

People are that used to letters being delayed due to cost cutting and poor management in the last mile
over the past few years that it's just (shrug of the shoulders) normal for Royal Mail that letter delivery is delayed/slow.

Liz Truss has already said once she is crowned she will make it even more difficult to strike, she has even talked out making it illegal to strike. Those of you that love Boris and vote Tory, just consider that, if you are in a union the tories are no friend of yours. Worringly, Labour aren't either anymore.

Worryingly Liz Truss and Simon Thompson also say we don't work hard enough and people from other nations do? So why don't they f**k off there then and get the workforce who they want and not try to change us all so they can rip us all off!

This is beyond National governments, there is an attack on the economy and the cost of living in order to make a new digital system that incorporates a guaranteed basic income more palatable, to such an extent that it’s actually demanded by the normies, ahem I mean masses..

I think it is too early to speculate. These points provide an interesting angle at the dispute but I think you guys are overthinking it.
He works for the shareholders and to please them, to be able to offer maximum dividends as well as increasing the value of company he has to cut costs. Obviously there is a fine line where you press too hard and risk everything collapsing. This would be RM losing profitable contracts and ofcom increasing pressure on letter delivery targets, imposing bigger fines. He isn't a good leader and is despicable for workforce. He has failed at track&trace project and I believe he will lose this battle too. I can't see him leading the company in the long term. However before he is gone he may facilitate company take over and split the GLS. It would make things very sour for us, especially if the mr Kretinsky buys larger stake and gain significant control. He is an asset stripping billionaire and is looking to grow his already obscene wealth. He won't be in it for long term game and welfare of people working for the company will be very close to the bottom of his list.

Oh have a word with yourselves.

There's no grand plan or conspiracy, the people at the top are far too incompetent for that.

Thompson is just a thick inadequate who moves in the right circles. Screw the workers, blag a stack of cash, fail, repeat. He doesn't have a clue what he's doing.

These people are below us.

It does n`t matter who is in charge of any of the companies that were privatised, or who is in No.10. They are all reading from the same script , given to them by their paymasters. Transfer of wealth, upwards to the 1%, nothing else. They have to go.

It does matter in the sense that things could escalate much quicker and worse if a billionaire gets the Raines.

So do we think he gave the track and trace contract to RM knowing that he was going there, A right little earner for him.

Wasnt it was the expensive failed app he was part of not the test kits - the app had nothing to do with RM
