Doubtful that would be needed, we'd just need less casuals. We must be getting near to 50:50 for the number of casuals v the number of posties. I reckon a few nights now we must have more casuals than postiesHyrrokkin wrote: ↑25 Aug 2022, 18:12With these 'super hubs' and PSM's in most MC's then there has to be a revision/realignment of duties.
I can see a few lower seniority MC staff getting moved to DO's.
My DO could certainly do with some extra staff like many across the country senior guys leaving en mass

Probably that doing 2C bulks for the region wasn't in spec for their LAT duties and hadn't been resourced for. I know at ours they all came in labelled as cross-dock and got split to DO before going out.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑25 Aug 2022, 18:10Wouldn't put it past RM to order that the "refused" parcels get sent straight back to the hubs, as that work is technically theirs now.postman1979 wrote: ↑25 Aug 2022, 15:42Our 2nd class oversized parcels are now sent to Atherstone to be sorted to our LAT hubs. It started on Monday / Tuesday. When the trailer returns with the parcels sorted we send them on to the hubs (cross docked). On Wednesday morning all or most of the hubs refused them only for them to be sent back to the MC to be resorted to the individual delivery offices. Talk about a complete waste of time and money.
What reasons did the hubs give for refusing them?

They won’t be able to send them back to the MC from today.
That is what i was told when i questioned why they were not just being cross docked and shipped straight out.

I wonder if it's going to end up with the hubs pinching staff from DOs that aren't hubs2chorizon wrote: ↑26 Aug 2022, 09:19The hubs GO LIVE on friday (today)adb2aber wrote: ↑26 Aug 2022, 07:59Probably that doing 2C bulks for the region wasn't in spec for their LAT duties and hadn't been resourced for. Question for MC bods, pardon my ignorance but what does 'cross docking' mean? What's it's context in
processing 'stuff'?
processing 'stuff'?

It's where a york of work comes off an artic and is wheeled straight over to the loading bay for the hub or DO that it's going to. Processing staff don't have anything to do with it/don't touch ityellowbelly wrote: ↑26 Aug 2022, 10:25Question for MC bods, pardon my ignorance but what does 'cross docking' mean? If cross-docking of this stuff does start (effectively) from next week, then good luck to our local hub DOs. From what I've seen the last couple of nights, about 40% of these yorks from the PSCs were labelled to the wrong hub entirely, and about another 10% had a complete mix of packets on them.
(But it's all in aid of efficiency, right?)

Some cross docked yorks are not even for the office on the label so 100% missorts.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑26 Aug 2022, 16:44Mix of stuff for and not for the hub or a mix of different streams (eg small and large, Tracked and non-Tracked)?
