Re: Is your office picketing ?
I remember on one strike I went down to the office to stand outside and nobody turned up! The building was all locked up and nobody around! Wonder what will happen this time? I do know a load of people aren’t members of the union any more or ever. Though a few have decided to join since these threats of change have started to rattle them a bit…

I always like it when you are going to the picket line and someone shouts "scab" at you.
Anyway I am not standing on a picket line with anyone who voted for Brexit and/or believes in the Great Reset.

I'd worry about people thinking I was considering going in to work if I had my uniform onRwsty wrote: ↑16 Aug 2022, 19:41For anyone wondering I asked an old stager at work this morning if we should picket in uniform or not. He said up to me, whatever suits.
I only mention it here cos a couple of people said they were thinking same at my office, I thought it was just me being a bit thick

If you are not in uniform how will the public know you are a striking postman and not just some Herberts standing on a street corner?
Actually if a lot of ours turned up in what passes for a uniform now, they would look just like a bunch of Herberts standing on a street corner.

So to any passing member of the public you would look like the agency workers brought in to break the strike on a fag break?

When we do win the pay rise we deserve,no doubt them that could not be arsed to attend the picket line will happily take the money

It is going to be hard on all of us financially, but i agree with the above comment."What is the alternative."I have done 23yrs and remember the previous strikes. Our unit was labelled as 'militant' back then and that has never left me.Fight till the end.We DESERVE A PAY RISE.Was hoping strikes would be saturday and monday.aiden01 wrote: ↑12 Aug 2022, 21:01Big burden on all of us but what is the alternative. no point in striking once a month or whatever.hawkeye622 wrote: ↑12 Aug 2022, 20:43I voted for a strike and I will definitely be striking but the loss of 4 days pay is going to be a huge burden on my family and I. Its causing me quite a big of anxiety![]()
Is there any chance of us getting a good deal & all strikes being called off?... or is that just wishful thinking!!?![]()

Re: Is your office picketing ?
Our office is about 50% CWU. I joined earlier this week. I`ve been given a day off on the first strike day, but I`ll still go and picket.
I think a lot of them will still go in because they need the money, which is fair enough, probably even a few union members.
There will be those who say "they don`t believe in Unions" but they`ll still take anything that the Union has fought hard for, which is disappointing. I personally could n`t do that, that`s why I joined the CWU. Also, I`ve had enough of the criminal gang that masquerades as our government and we need to support each other and other unions to combat them. It really is the "Govt" and their donors and cheerleaders against, for want of a better phrase, "the working class".

''needing the money'' is all the more reason to take action because they clearly arent managing well on the current wage if cant afford to lose a days pay

Re: Is your office picketing ?
I've given strike breakers the benefit of the doubt in past disputes but not this time.
Past disputes have obviously been important but there's always been the feeling that a couple of strikes would see them round the table coming up with some compromise.
I think this time it will get messy so you better choose your side wisely.
If Manpower has the balls to practically tell their staff not to cross our picket lines (and let's be honest those guys probably need the money at least as much as we do if not more) then it's f***ing embarrassing if our own guys get on their knees for a day's pay.
If you're on here and intend to cross the line at least have the guts to PM me so I can hit the ignore button, I've got f**k all interest in anything you have to say.
