Hello. Please help !!

Post by Mrhappyman74 »

Hi there. Firstly, this is a great forum - and you posties do a great job

I've just joined because I am a seller on ebay who has been very happily dropping off my parcels at my local delivery office for months now
The different people on reception are always very friendly and happily scan my 2nd class items into the system,

I dont do click and drop or have an OBA - I simply print the labels through ebay.

Anyway this week the delivery office was understaffed apparantly and I had to deal with the manager - who is very unfriendly and a major jobsworth.

Even though its very quiet where i live he refused to scan in any of my parcels (i had about 15 small parcels - literally a 2 minute job) as he had 'other things to do' - the situation escalated quite quickly and it ended with him telling me to come and collect my parcels round the back of the yard if i didn't lime it - where he left my parcels with some other peoples as well - luckily i am honest and posted them back through the letterbox.

Does anyone know the best place to talk about this in the forum? Ideally I'd like to know if Royal mail do have a resonsibiilty to scan in 2nd class small parcels or provide any kind of proof of postage (he said they didn't) - and I'd like to make some kind of complaint about his conduct.

I spoke to our local postie who we've had for years and is lovely - he said this manager is a total nightmare - all the posties hate him sand he treats everyone badly and gets away with it - i dont think thats very fair.

Fingers crossed you can help

Advice Please - Scanning 2nd Class Parcels at Royal Mail Delivery office?

Post by Mrhappyman74 »

Hello everyone. I'd really appreciate some advice if possible. I'll try and keep it brief :Very Happy

As an Ebay private seller, I send about 30 items a week (mainly Small Parcel 2nd Class Std) - I buy and print the labels off ebay directly - (no click & drop / OBA) and the ebay labels have a barcode on them

If I drop them off to the Post office, they scan them in or give me proof of postage so if an item gets lost or a customer says not recieved I have some way of proving the item has been dispatched

When I go to the Royal Mail delivery office sometimes they scan them in - but if its the the manager he says they are too busy to scan them in and its nots Royal Mails policy to scan standard mail.

Could anyone please shed any light on this? If the postman doesn't scan the barcode at delivery then the customer can say the item was not recieved and there is no history or me ever dispatching the parcel, only generating a label

Any why would Post office show some kind of proof or postage but royal mail not? I'm very confused

And what about Signed for / or special delivery ?

Thanks in advance for any advice :wave

When you go to the delivery office it's possible to scan them as received into the system, it's called an "acceptance scan" we do it on the PDA, all the person has to do is tap a few options on the screen it takes about 10 seconds so someone saying we haven't got time is bollox, it's can't be arsed, I'd continue dropping them off at the post office if I were you.

Thanks for replying - so its more of a customer service thing than a required service - and you right, he really cant be arsed
