East Oxford Delivery Office

Post by youngoffender »

Can anyone shed any light on the true situation at this DO? We have not had regular mail delivered for a week, and are still waiting for first-class post sent on Monday 27 June. Just the latest example of major delays since delivery routes were revised in late 2021. The office never appears on the 'Service Updates' web page. Despite months of trying at the various levels of customer service, I have never got any admission from Royal Mail that there is a problem, presumably because a) the DO management is not reporting the true picture to save their own necks, and b) head office has no incentive to investigate properly because the truth would hurt their USO statistics. Meanwhile, Oxford residents are left without important time-sensitive mail, and have nowhere to turn to get the daily service they are legally entitled to expect.

You can make an official complaint to Royal Mail direct, and then ask for it to be escalated and then if you don't get a satisfactory answer you can ask to go to the Postal Review Panel. It's a long-winded way but if enough people from your area do it, it will highlight the situation to Royal mail HQ. Also despite today's in Parliament, MPs are always worth contacting, again if they get enough constituents complaining they can at least get to visit the office in an official capacity, and they can also put pressure on RM HQ. Good luck

Thank for this - I have already got as far as the Postal Review Panel and now POSTRS, but again they simply take the DO management's word that everything is working fine, and won't investigate further. At every stage I'm met with a lack of good faith engagement, and what amounts to corporate 'gaslighting': i.e. suggesting that I must be deluded if I think post isn't being delivered every day.

I have written to our MP (Anneliese Dodds). She visited the DO once much earlier this year, and they put on a show for her before everythng disintegrated again. She seems to have other priorities now.
