You can't plan to have undelivered mail in the office in the hope someone comes back early to deliver it.
High levels of sickness, high levels of vacancies, late lorries, accidents on delivery, failed lapsing etc etc.
Yesterday they "fixed" our revision - we still had heaps of undelivered mail.
We weren't allowed to leave early.
However if you had offered to cover some on overtime you weren't expected to work all your paid hours.
It is a good job the CWU are fighting against a two tier workforce.
