Re: Ballot / Strike Dates?
Agree with payrise ,but if CWU don't get some balls and push this time.It will be like the last time.No sneaky deals, communicate on daily basis. With so many numbers why haven't they been in touch with the media.Already been mentioned to me by customers about the good pay deal..We don't want praise for keeping the country running through covid but for once use it .
Tell the truth I'm off had enough of RM ,there are plenty of jobs out there paying the same and above ,yer I know most don't do sick pay but hey that won't be there forever.CWU come kick some arse, earn your money

Re: Ballot / Strike Dates?
With the greatest of respect Skuse, your wifes workday is irrelevant to her, and our, pay rise. I used to do 12 hour days 6 days a week in a scrapyard but nobody was crying for me. Sure specialist nurses might not be getting over 3% but plenty of other lines of work are getting way more.
The answer here isn't " The wife isn't getting that so we don't deserve it either."
It's " The wife deserves way more than that and so do we ".

Re: Ballot / Strike Dates?
Just to keep the pay gap the same between Specialist Nurses and Postmen , we'd need a 6% rise.

Re: Ballot / Strike Dates?
Nurses are public sector.
Their pay comes from the tax payer.
Our pay comes from profits, profits we generate.
The more profits we generate, the higher pay rise we deserve.
Silly comparison.

Re: Ballot / Strike Dates?
Royal Mail just made millions in profits. We deserve our fair share instead of the company always giving to those greedy fat cats thousands of pounds worth of bonuses.
And believe me....they do get thousands of pounds worth of bonuses
All on the back of us
2% what Royal Mail are offering is measly. And they initially also wanted strings as well!!

On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Re: Ballot / Strike Dates?
Royal Mail have offered a lamentable 2% without strings and they'd be over the moon to do a 1 year deal and pay that to us straight away backdated to 1/4/22 if we were mad enough to accept it.
But that's their opening gambit, they have now said we can also have 'up to' another 3.5% if we agree to certain 'strings'. Royal Mail would like that up to 3.5% to pay for itself through increased efficiency.
I've worked there for nearly 25 years and I worked for another former state owned privatised industry for 20 years before that so I've seen all this before and the reality is that they know full well that they will have to offer more than 2% to get a deal so they have probably budgeted for 3.5-4%.
Then we come to the 'strings' which obviously are up for negotiation, the union negotiators will water down some of the strings where leverage is priced in anyway and we will end up with around 7% with a few not too onerous strings attached.
This will take until about September, people will say 'oooh six months back pay! just in time for Xmas and it will help with my Winter fuel bills' and they'll vote for it, actually by then a two year deal will most likely be on the table, taking us to 31/3/24 and then the whole circus will begin again.

It's almost like this happens every time.....
I'll check my previous posts but I think I said this 3 months ago 2 years ago 4 years ago and....you get the picture.
I guess it keeps Ricky and Terry in work for most of the year

Re: Ballot / Strike Dates?
That would be pay linked to profit. So you would be happy taking a pay cut should we make a loss? It's like the govt calling a windfall tax on shell and BP because the oil price has increased ( due to covid and Russia) but not giving them money or cutting their taxes when covid closed the world and for a few days the price of oil futures actually went negative and the oil companies were making big losses. Going off the point a bit, why aren't the govt windfall taxing themselves for the extra money on fuel duty they've been taking since March?Woody Guthrie wrote: ↑25 May 2022, 10:15Nurses are public sector.

Re: Ballot / Strike Dates?
While we're off topic why not a have a windfall tax on delivery companies and supermarkets who have had bumper profits over last couple of years. Got a funny feeling Supermarkets will continue to make record profits due to inflation although prices are only supposed to be going up to cover costs.rambo1 wrote: ↑02 Jun 2022, 09:21That would be pay linked to profit. Exactly. Who actually makes those disposable face masks too........now if that's not a case for windfall tax.....kevbo wrote: ↑02 Jun 2022, 11:06While we're off topic why not a have a windfall tax on delivery companies and supermarkets who have had bumper profits over last couple of years. Re: Ballot / Strike Dates?
Strike action is already booked until 2nd/3rd of December, the union would have to give 2 weeks notice if they wanted to call further action, but there would be no point. This is the battle that will decide the war.walthmstowman wrote: ↑05 Oct 2022, 14:28BTTT . When will our union announce strike dates for December leading right up until Christmas ?
If there is no compromise from Royal Mail by early December, the union will have little alternative but to settle on the best terms they can, nobody except a handful of fanatics will want to carry on into the New Year.
