and a new ‘above and beyond’ bonus worth up to 2% of salary this year, for CWU grade operational staff who achieve it.
It will be a mystery as to how this bonus is achieved, guaranteed every time it looks as if you are reaching the targets the goal posts will be moved. Remember the "phatom shares" by the time we were due to be paid out, suddenly all the money had disappeared ........... :arrrghhh
The bonus is actually concerning....

If it's individual based, do we have to rely on our line managers to tick the box for us when we hit whatever the target is.

If it is depot based, will this start arguments between those who stay out to complete and those who don't.

If it's simply about Royal Mail hitting a profits target..... then fine, but if it's either of the above it will cause issues.

If it is depot based,
Simon has said it's depot based.

Si
it will likely be at an office level - not individual - but what that means is that everyone needs to contribute - the thinking is it will be based on the agreed productivity flightpath targets - so if these have been set fairly - to account for local reality - then it will be fair scheme...

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

My mate at graft says his son works in asda's warehouse on the forklift. Reckons they've just been offered 8.5% no strings. We've been offered 2. What will "si" and co say to that.

If we don't receive a decent payrise then it is a disincentive to work when people on benefits will no doubt receive increases in line with CPI next year as I doubt inflation will dissipate anytime soon.

We had a gate meeting and it was just the same as the stuff when the first offer was made (32 allowances etc) was this ever written down formally or just mentioned by Terry and on here.

The 2 percent no strings was spoken about and that was it.

When is the four weeks before we can ballot over?

There have been gate meetings nationwide. We've held two in our DO so far, as well as talking to members on a daily basis...if you haven't had one or don't have a rep, contact your branch and they will get someone to you.

There were national briefings in Birmingham on Monday, London yesterday and in Liverpool today, attended by unit reps from those regions.

Those reps' audiences will be somewhat minimal over the next few days, due to those pesky Bank Holidays you mentioned, but those very reps will be back informing everyone when everyone returns to work :thumbup

if the union plays this right and drags it out before we actually get balloted then waits a while before we actually do go out (assuming we get a yes vote) we could be getting on towards the busy period.....even xmas :whistle

People need a pay rise now, not in December.
What difference does it really make how busy it is?

Parcels are a year round thing now, Christmas cards are a thing of the past. Annual leave is cancelled at Christmas making it easier to recover, they also have the perfect excuse to bring in loads of casual staff.

If the union chooses to string this out it will be so they can throw a chunk of back pay at the members to sell whatever fudge they've come up with. Nothing to do with the impact of the busy period. It will not be "playing it right".
