Our updated pay offer to CWU

We met with the CWU yesterday and today to make progress on our pay deal.

As part of these discussions we have now made the first 2% of the pay offer unconditional because we recognise that people are feeling the impact of growing inflation now, and CWU have not yet engaged with us on the change we need to pay for the pay.

As you are aware, we have already proposed to CWU a package worth up to 5.5% this year for CWU grade colleagues.

Our original offer included a pay increase of up to 3.5% - subject to agreed changes as part of our deal – and a new ‘above and beyond’ bonus worth up to 2% of salary this year, for CWU grade operational staff who achieve it.

Our revised offer

We want to give you a pay rise as soon as possible - so we have now revised our offer to make the first 2% unconditional, backdated to April 2022.
This 2% unconditional pay increase would be applicable to all CWU grade colleagues, including our colleagues in Parcelforce and Fleet. It would apply to base pay and relevant allowances.

This means that if CWU accept this revised offer we will begin the process to pay a 2% pay rise as soon as possible.

To be clear, we do want to pay more. But for that to work, we need CWU to meet us for meaningful discussion about how change can pay for further pay increases.

We are at a crossroads, and it is important that we agree a deal that includes the changes we need to set us up for tomorrow, and not just today.

Next steps

Further talks are scheduled for next week. We are committed to the dispute resolution process and we will continue to urge CWU to engage with us on change that will enable us to pay more as part of this deal.

A separate communication will be sent to Parcelforce and Fleet employees with the specifics of the pay offer for these groups.

We believe we’ve put forward a proposal which is a fair and reasonable compromise between CWU expectations of a ‘no strings’ pay award that is paid quickly, and the need for our business to remain competitive and ensure job security for the future.

Wow 2% unconditional and 'up to 5.5%' ooh and 'backdated to last month' how very kind of you. And only if we agree to everything they want to screw us over with.

Can't be bothered listening to that buffoon replying. Hope he just says 5.5 is a fair unconditional starting point, improve it, then we can reply to your Sunday working, annualised hours etc etc.... NO !!

Why does pRicky make it sound like the company think its a great deal, and we must think it was a great deal but the nasty old CWU are stopping it.

Hey pRicky - we're not f***ing stupid. We can see through the company's lies clearer than we can through an open window. We have heard so many over the last couple of years so it isn't difficult.

Whooped doo an extra fiver after tax, what an insult. What part of everyone is burnt out and working their backsides off especially in delivery does he not understand. You have to look after the foot soldiers or you might as well turn the lights off and lock up. People have had enough. Morale is the lowest I’ve ever seen. Bad backs, bad knees, depression, and what’s the answer? Find another job. :wave

Yes I agree and unfortunately it seems like it’s everywhere unless you believe the courier where all these posties have time on their hands to talk for hours every day and pop in and see their customers fora chat, shove that pay rise it’s an insult and shows exactly what they think of us

NATIONAL LIVING WAGE HAS ALREADY GONE UP BY 6.6% NO STRINGS ATTACHED.

Royal Mail is in the private sector earning huge profits..... but they don't want to at least match this 6.6% rise which would be the fair offer....

Instead they offer us 2%.

Nobody should work a minute over their time for this company anymore. Do not go the extra mile for them anymore. They will not go the extra mile for you.

Average wage per person in UK is £611 per week.

9-10 % inflation prediction

Energy Prices keeps doubling

Royal Mail CEO salary £525,000, plus a pension of 13.6% of base pay (about £71,400 a year) and bonuses yet to be determined.

Royal Mail full time Postperson's wage £484

Guess who’s feeling the pinch?

You have to wonder where this fixation with Sunday deliveries is coming from? Amazon has seens its stock price really fall in the last year. Does management think that they - and others - will start shifting more of their deliveries over to us?

and a new ‘above and beyond’ bonus worth up to 2% of salary this year, for CWU grade operational staff who achieve it.
It will be a mystery as to how this bonus is achieved, guaranteed every time it looks as if you are reaching the targets the goal posts will be moved. Remember the "phatom shares" by the time we were due to be paid out, suddenly all the money had disappeared ........... :arrrghhh

Mystery to me too. Is this individual, section or office based? What if your office is already reaching it's WIPWH (if that's the
right thing!) that dictated whether your office required a revision or not - would the office get the 'bonus' automatically or
would it have to get even better? What if I've gone 'above and beyond' to make sure the crappily addressed Christmas cards
get to the right address because I know all the names of the customers - oops recipients! on my walk? Do I qualify for the bonus?
