Hi,
I've got a package arriving from the USA which seems to be stuck at Heathrow/Langley. it was originally posted on the 28th March and the last Royal Mail tracking entry was 10.50 on Thursday 31st March when it left the USA, however on the USPS site the last entry is 6.56AM on April 2nd when it 'Departed a transfer airport in Heathrow'.
It's going to a PO Box address and the posties at my local depot tell me it's not showing as being on the Royal Mail system as yet. I know there are some delays at Langley from other posts on this board - I don't mind waiting but wondered if a delay of this length should be ringing alarm bells? Any help much appreciated.

checking other posts when USPS post this "'Departed a transfer airport in Heathrow'. " it means they passed it to customs, and there are delays there. Also if you check other posts Customs don't scan items, and Royal Mail can't until its released. Its a case of making a claim or waiting I am afriad.Mr Rusty wrote: ↑03 May 2022, 09:29Hi,

Re: Item arriving from USA stuck at Heathrow for a month
Thanks for that - I thought that might be what's happened
I'm really just checking if such a long delay is something to worry about or it's just a case of sitting it out and it will turn up eventually.
The package in question contains trading cards belonging to the sender - not worth that much but a lot of sentimental value. He's used a priority service on previous occasions but the package then went to ParcelForce on arrival in this country, and (as I'm sure you know) they don't deliver to PO Boxes
I suggested using a regular tracked service this time but unfortunately didn't realise this meant he wouldn't be able to make a claim, so I feel responsible now they've gone astray.

Each country is different, but the UK allow claims on tracked services. Are you sure that is correct for the US?

Re: Item arriving from USA stuck at Heathrow for a month
Hi Snaggletooth,
Many thanks for taking the time to reply, much appreciated.
The site was sent as a 'First Class International Package' and unfortunately (when you read the small print) insurance comes as a bolt on extra with this service.
I've tried to instigate a claim from this end (as did the sender) just to try and get some action (this has worked for me in the past) but apparently it's not an option with this particular service.
Two other aspects to this are firstly, it's not really about the value - just almost impossible to replace the contents, and secondly, I think trading cards might be on the list of items shipped at the senders risk and not covered anyway so it's a bit of a moot point
If they're held up and will arrive eventually that's not much of a problem, I'm just worried they might disappear all together - is that likely?
