If they end up going it then it'll arrive at MC later, probably a couple of hours later, so the final dispatches from MCs to DOs (and probably any dispatch before the final one) will be the same amount of time later. That's going to have the knock-on affect of the mail arriving later in DOs (probably hitting morning rush hour traffic) and so start times for MC night shifts and all DOs will be later and finish times later. Realistically many DOs full timers will end up being 09:00-17:00 or 10:00-18:00

Jenny 'Unfortunately' Hall
The changes we want to discuss with the CWU and get an agreement on as a business can potentially be dealt with through the pathway to change or by some other means of consultation.
But some of the proposals have been in discussion, but haven't been reached agreement yet either kind of now or in the past, and others haven't been discussed at all, so as I say, there are meetings happening next week with CWU and the negotiating team so that they can work through some of these things.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Re: Update on pay
I currently get an allowance for being in a "hard to recruit area".
There is absolutely no problem with recruiting full time staff. (Maybe only the part timers should get it.)
The early shift allowance went because we don't actually start early any more. Yet other allowances seem sacrosanct.
I also receive a PBS supplement of £13 each month for something that happened 20 years and 3 offices ago.
Others in my office receive a lot more and some don't receive anything.
Is that equal pay for equal work?
Isn't that a 2 tier workforce?
Weren't they talking about buying out these obsolete allowances in the last pay negotiations..

I doubt the regulator cares about the erosion of the USR either, i get the impression they'd just happily tick their boxes and fine RM, allowing RM to continue with what they're doing now.noggin1969 wrote: ↑28 Apr 2022, 06:23They can't recruit or retain staff now, they're also throwing silly money to get agency staff to work Sundays. The only reason I can see for that offer, is to crash the share price to let the Czech major shareholder and mate of Putin grab another cheap chunk.
I'm actually surprised that RM has the infrastructure to rely on train services without heavy investment in that area.

Re: Update on pay
Similar to what I was alluding to in an earlier post. Many part time and new entrant staff are going to be asked to strike for conditions that they don't have in the first place. The two tier workforce has been there a while.clashcityrocker wrote: ↑28 Apr 2022, 16:13I currently get an allowance for being in a "hard to recruit area".

Re: Update on pay
For me personally, I'm FT and no OT, this is the pay cut I would receive is
Current - Basic = £458.04 Del Sup = £26.61 Total = £484.65
Future - Basic at 2% = £467.20 total = £467.20 (pay cut = £17.45)
Future - Basic at 3.5 = £474.07 total = £474.07 (pay cut = £10.58)
For those who are PT, your milage will vary. I did have 2 or 3 bonuses from the PBS lots of yrs back (but zero now), the most I ever got was either 26p or 29p, I don't really remember.

Re: Update on pay
So we have a ballot in June and then we can go on a few one day strikes in July and August when the workload is at it's lightest and then they'll change the offer to 4% and a £200 lump sum and people grab it with both hands.

Re: Update on pay
I feel like it could be best if union just said no to discussions full stop
No payrise and no loss of T&Cs.
No payrise is going to heat my house come winter! It's only cutting back and playing it safe will give me the same disposable income i've had previously, i think the general public need to do the same.
We've potentially got a recession on the cards, so a silver lining could be less work. Though it feels like my office needs considerably less work to even have the chance of getting everything out the door each day.

Has it actually been confirmed that they are suggesting we lose the delivery supplement? Seems a lot of confusion over this.Pharox wrote: ↑28 Apr 2022, 17:28For me personally, I'm FT and no OT, this is the pay cut I would receive is

Re: Update on pay
I've only been at RM for 8 months, and my contract already includes Sundays and flexible working hours. It's never happened to me, but several other "new" staff have had weeks where they are made to work 12-6 delivering LATs.
Annualised hours are bullshit, as often they'll keep holiday days as 8 hours (or whatever an average day is on your contract, 6 for me.) Getting time off is already a s**t show for those at the bottom of the anachronistic "seniority" system, and this would just mean that those who can cherry pick the summer days when it's quiet would get extra holiday, and those left with the autumn months and just post Christmas would be spending 1.25 or more holiday days on 1 day off, (the Mrs used to work on annualised hours in a hospital and the holiday booking was a mathematical nightmare.)

Re: Update on pay
No, they have not been confirmed, but I am going by this line -> 'Scrapping 32 allowances and supplement'. I did not know there were 32 allowances and supplements within RM. I'm *just* assuming the Del Sup was included along with everything else. Even if they were excluded and we keep the Del Sup, it's still a complete pile of steaming horsesh!te.mjd24 wrote: ↑28 Apr 2022, 18:25Has it actually been confirmed that they are suggesting we lose the delivery supplement? Seniority does not give you the first pick of annual leave (it is illegal to do so).Kenfandango wrote: ↑28 Apr 2022, 18:35I've only been at RM for 8 months, and my contract already includes Sundays and flexible working hours. Offices have different ways of doing first pick, usually based on rotating seniority (most senior first one year, least senior first the next and so on)

Re: Update on pay
well if its true they want to scrap the 'supplement' then that would indeed mean a pay cut. i.e. in D.Os the delivery supplement for a full timer is £26.60. lets assume they paid us the full 3.5%, thats a pay rise of £16.94. but they would stop paying us the £26.60 so effectively its a pay cut to basic pay of £9.66. not to mention that everybody's gas and lecky has went up almost 700 quid. which is about 14 quid a week so there's almost a pay cut of almost 24 quid a week before you even get your shopping in. whats not to like, everyone will vote for that.
