Annualised hours? That's the worst one for me. But at least we really know why they've been desperate to get scan in scan out in place

What was the reason for my post well I have posted on here for over 15 years giving updates and i wanting to share some important information.

Honestly thought Royal Mail might have started a lot lower at say a 0.01% pay increase. Given the fact that most posties have worked their socks off during the pandemic delivering a record number of parcels. The online spending boom resulted in Royal Mail making £311 million pretax profits in the first half after barely scraping a profit a year earlier (source: The Guardian).
Should we also mention the revisions, 700 management roles to be cut and £400 million handed to its key shareholders?
You should rip up their proposals and return to it back to sender with a note attached that discussions will begin only after a serious offer is made.

,and it looks like they have opened the closet to dust these strings down ( Ricos plans ) , but when they have dished out 400m as a bonus not long ago to shareholders its a disgrace ,oh and i hope everybody did there trust survey

Update on CWU talks and the offer we have made
As you’re aware, last week we began talks with CWU about a pay deal – a deal for tomorrow not just today.
We put forward a proposal which seeks to find the balance between recognising the great work of our people and maintaining our industry-leading pay and benefits, whilst ensuring Royal Mail can grow and remain competitive into the future.
Getting this balance right is what creates job security for everyone in the long term.
The threat of industrial action is damaging for your company
I want to update you and let you know that following our initial meeting, CWU held a motion at the CWU conference seeking support a ballot for industrial action. Whilst we understand CWU has rejected our offer it feels very premature after less than a week to have begun talking about possible industrial action in this way.
Even just the threat of industrial action is damaging for our business at a time of increasing economic uncertainty and intense competitive pressure.
Many of our major customers use multiple carriers and can switch volume away from Royal Mail quickly if they believe that industrial action is imminent. And it makes winning new business much tougher too.
Our offer put to CWU
We will give you more detail on the offer made to the CWU shortly, but the headlines are a pay increase of up to 3.5% this year for all CWU grade colleagues
· We would pay 2% as soon as we agree a deal, backdated to April 2022
· A further 1.5% would be paid when the changes we are seeking commence implementation
· And it includes an ‘above and beyond’ bonus scheme worth up to 2% of salary that would be paid in units where we have delivered productivity improvements above plan for the year.
This does not include Fleet, ParcelForce or Engineering who are under different bargaining units and therefore their pay deals are dealt with separately.
This is the biggest pay offer we have made for many years. As a reminder, the pay increases in the last few years have been 1%, 2.7% and 2%, plus two hours off the working week (equivalent to 2.6% of pay per hour).
It is also higher than many other organisations. For example, Post Office have proposed a pay freeze for one year and 2% for the second year, An Post workers in Ireland have a 2.5% rise, and other key workers such as Nurses, Teachers and Police will get pay rises of 2-3%.
The market is moving quickly and so must we, including agreeing your pay rise
We know you’re feeling the impact of the rising cost of living now so we’re fully committed to do all we can to get a pay deal done in as short a time as possible.
In fact, we already have the next set of meetings in the diary for as soon as the CWU conference finishes. We hope those discussions will help us move towards resolution and avoid the possibility of unnecessary and damaging industrial action.
But we can’t agree to an offer without the changes we need to grow the business. We have to agree a deal that sets us up for tomorrow, and not just today.
It is an uncertain time. As inflation rises our customers will have less money to spend on things like online shopping, whilst at the same time we are facing into rising costs for things like fuel too. We also need to move quickly to respond to changing consumer demands or else our competitors will step into the void.
Working harmoniously is best for a quick deal and the future of the company
We value the joint work we do with CWU, and the business is better for it the past year or so. And we would like to continue now so we can find a deal for tomorrow not just today
