Update on pay : 2% no strings offer rejected 25/05/2022 : Page 19

Post by Martin Walsh »

Royal Mail’s pay offer is a disgrace.

They put 2% up front depending on the strings listed below !( not to parcelforce or Fleet )

With 1.5% if the union accepts the following :

1. Later start times due to the reduction in planes.

2. Scrapping 32 allowances and supplement.

3. Sunday ceasing to be voluntary.

4. All new recruits will be on inferior pay and conditions creating a two tier workforce.

5. increased flexibility including annualised hours.

6. Reductions in sick leave payments.

This morning the CWU have agreed an emergency motion that unless Royal Mail give us a inflation no strings pay deal by next Friday we will serve the 4 weeks notice under the DRP process and commence a ballot for strike action.

All members now need to unite there is only one way you will get a decent pay rise is by supporting the CWU.

Meetings in all workplaces will commence and let’s unite and fight for a no strings pay deal which you deserve after your hard work during the pandemic.

Unite and fight

How can the submit that without laughing. Surely they know what the answer would be or do they have so much hatred towards staff members that they simply don’t care. All out!!

Is there even the slightest chance that the union will follow through this time with actual all out strike action or are they simply going to piss about again trying to use a ballot for strike action as a mere bargaining chip then finally recommend that we accept another "deal of the century"?

What is this post designed to do Martin?
I don't think even Royal Mail are stupid enough to propose this as a serious offer.
They would be chewed up by their own shareholders for deliberately provoking industrial action.

I think you might have over-egged the pudding.

We're always united and always up for the fight but we're not stupid and we don't like being treated like fools.

This is what they have genuinely offered!!

🚨🚨🚨
Royal Mails pay offer is 3.5%.

An initial 2% with a further 1.5% with strings attached with the potential of a £500 lump sum payment with even more strings.

The strings attached include:
-later start and finish times on delivery to link in with LAT arrivals.
-removal of allowances
-new starters terms, pay and conditions will be significantly less than the current workforce
-flexible hours. Meaning members will be forced to work more in busy times and less during quiet.
-the reduction of sick pay
-further unachievable productivity targets

This is has been overwhelmingly rejected by The CWU.

It has been agreed that if an acceptable offer isn't in sight by the end of the week commencing 2nd May 2022 the a national disagreement be registered and the CWU will invoke the one month period in the legally binding dispute resolution procedure to resolve the dispute.

During this time the CWU will put all preparatory actions in place to enable the union to call on its members to take industrial action if the dispute remains unresolved.

The amazing work The CWU members have done during the pandemic has been quickly forgotten. Royal Mail workers have gone from key worker hero's to a commodity which the company want to squeeze to appeise the shareholders. This is nothing short than a disgrace.

I looked at today's date....Nope it's not April 1, so can't be an April fools. I sure hope that is a wind up. The CWU need to make sure every 'i' is dotted, every 't' crossed, ballots filled in at home away from the work place, Zero photo's, No lines at the Post box and any other hiccup that may result in the ballot being null and void.

Simon 'It's a London thing' Thompson

it is a closed offer - because that is what we agreed with Terry - we meet again next week - but as we know - we do have some areas of the country, and one in particular - where the CWU appear not keen to change - and tend to "jump the gun" on many things - they are also brilliant at cartoons - and when I look at their productivity - perhaps I can see why...
