Probably have parcel lapsing as well - having the parcel drivers taking one or two of the other drivers parcels between them and having the lapsed drivers put on letters to cover any sick etc
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

1) The part that Management (and probably CWU) see on their Laptops = Spreadheets. :arrrghhh
2) The Real World of delivering the Mail that us Posties deal with every day. :dance

RM would turn us into another Amazon/Yodel/Emri ? already if they could...already half way there as it is.
RM bosses are just spivs and chancers in nicer suits...pandering to shareholders and screwing their best asset over and over - the workforce.
CWU have no choice now - strike ballot and out as RM will not change their minds or stance

Summarising all these posts and looking at what have been leaked from cwu and Simon's narrative there is no chance for an agreement. Royal Mail, if they are not put against a wall will not budge. Our only hope is the CWU and ultimately us, as anything that is eventually negotiated and agreed on cwu-royal mail level is subject to a vote. This is our chance not to agree to peanuts and accepting strings that effectively would turn us into another amazon or yodel. As far as I can understand the business side of things. I know how revenue can be exposed to economical uncertainties and how shift in trend can affect profit but having given nearly half yearly profits in dividends to shareholders, royal mail doesn't have a leg to stand on.

In UK 2021 the average wage was over £38,000.
This years inflation is expected to be around 10%.

Royal Mail paid £400 million to share holders

Go figure.

Ok, thanks for commenting Martin. :thumbup Royal mail up to their old tricks just like they were in previous negotiations. They were pushing for posties to work 9 to 5 then as I recall. Royal Mail talk about efficiency but all they are really looking to do is cut costs.

Take 1st class mail for instance. At one time before privatisation 1st class mail used to be guaranteed next day delivery but now post is re-routed to large mail centres out of town which means it often arrives a few days late. I know I'm a dinosaur and out of touch with the current climate of how mail is being delivered. We have giant hubs now that improve efficiency.

The irony though of how Royal Mail basically crapped on the USO using the pandemic as an excuse for mail delays for months after lockdown. Now all of sudden they are pro USO and want posties delivering mail at 5pm to meet USO targets!!
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

What was the percentage of returned ballot papers in the last ballot? Perhaps there are too many "I'm all right Jack!" who don't care about worse terms and conditions as long as they get a few hundred quid back pay (pro rata)

The 7% rise people are asking for amounts to around £1500 per worker. Not a chance they can afford that.
