Has the business ever officially said that it wants to move delivery to 9-5?
If you were a union rep and you thought your little corner which has remained protected for many years despite having some of the poorest performing offices was under attack wouldn't you try to stoke a little fire under the rest of the membership just in case you need back up?
Now what's guaranteed to unite the membership? I know let's roll out the old 9-5 routine again for the umpteenth time...
When the business officially proposes moving to 9-5 I'll worry about it, when I see it in writing I'll worry about it.
Not when somebody with a history of putting his members above the rest of the membership throws up another slice of project fear pie.
1) What are the "strings" attached to the offer if it's not a change in hours/days?
2) Simon often mentions on Workplace that the vans are only used on average 5 to 6 hours per day, he clearly wants them used for longer each day.
For me it's easy. I only do OT at Xmas. I don't rely on it. For the next few weeks I'll work a day off here and there and stay out on delivery or do a Sunday. This is my personal strike fund. It's the way we've always had to do it. When the time comes I'll tick the yes box and return it same day. Then we let the CWU do what they do and negotiate a better deal than the one we are being offered now. If you genuinely think it will happen any other way you haven't been in RM long enough.
Honestly dont give the company chance to attack terms, how about we have no payrise this year and just hold postion as we are?
Why not just make it 3-4 years?

Option A ,Stay as we are
Option B At best 2-3% rise + being forced to worked at least 2 Sundays a month and having our times changed to 11am- 6pm,+ loosing sick pay.
Which would you choose cause this is all the union will get for us

No, someone else decided they could the job the better so i let them give it try.

If someone thinks they can do a better job of something than me then im quite happy to let them try and guide if needed. Do the same with my walk. if someone wants it happy for them to try it for a week, Always get it given back to me however.

I don’t think it’s workable personally or think it’ll happen.
Im just saying if it did then that would be the end of it for me.

Your right it normally happens that way for the last god knows how long but Terry has just said he is going for a straight up payrise or did I get that wrong.
Why are we even discussing an attack on our terms and conditions?
Terry made it clear it's a no strings pay rise.
He also said on time but that ship has sailed.
There is no deal to be made.
It's a pay rise or we walk.
It will absoultly have strings and no one will walk as no one can afford to not get paid while they re striking, talk some sense.
he is talking sense. it makes no sense not to walk. as for not getting paid, you will. they will do 'rotational' strike days. ie friday and saturday one week monday and tuesday the next, giving 4 days disruption while losing 2 days pay and getting paid 3.
They are always called 'Pay Negotiations' we want a no strings pay rise they want a small increase with a new set of erosions to the T&C's. Neither side will get that but we will get something in the middle just how far to the left of middle depends on the skills of the negotiations team and how much the share price tanks with strike ballots looming.
Apparently they offered 10% but with tons of strings attached.
Nah , Terry said that the offer even with no strings attached would unacceptable so it will be nowhere near 10 - nearer 1% than 10
As anybody seen his latest video posted on the CWA website? It sounds a derisory offer, probably around 2%, which is also subject to allowances being removed and a move to working later in the day.
Out in the hottest part of the day for 5-6 hours in the summer is stupid and that should be obvious and in the winter you’ll being doing part of it in the dark and I know we used to do that but it’s not the same now as it was then , way more could go wrong so where’s the union on the health risks?
Also , if other peoples offices are anything like the one I used to work in and the one I’m in now then you’d be going to and from work in rush hour traffic making you day way longer and cost more in petrol….I know rm don’t care but the union should.
9-5 also means you’d have zero part of your day left other than to be knackered all of the time and that’s not counting the weekend.
I said to my Dom the other week that this company keeps on removing any incentive to work for it bit by bit.
9-5 ends it for me personally , I’ll do something else.
Sorry to tell you this, but that was on the agenda during the last dispute. With later dispatch times and a move towards more evening parcel deliveries It will almost certainly mean later deliveries, especially if mail volumes fall and they remove the bigger parcels from the walks.

As has already been said , there’s not been anything official about it.
Here’s the thing , they can’t do 2 opposing things at the same time so there’ll be later parcels deliveries and the same deliveries as now or they’ll have to hire loads more vans.
The idea is that we don’t use the vans enough so they can’t be out doing a round and large parcels at the same time can they.
Also , I work in an office that has the parcel separation method so ……
As I’ve already said , I’m out if they do later deliveries because I don’t want my life to be all about rm which a 9 start would certainly be.
I’m genuinely easy about it because that’s where my line is.
