Holy god you really or deluded. so who is going to all the work if rm get rid of thousands of posties??as for nobody getting a payrise for 20 yrs WTF2yearpostie wrote: ↑03 Apr 2022, 17:15No, please read what ive written properly. Id be happy with a 3.5% rise if it meant we kept our t&cs in place and we kept or grew the number of jobs we currently had.greengiant wrote: ↑03 Apr 2022, 16:28So you'd be happy with no pay rise, and worse terms and conditions (i.e loss of paid breaks, loss of sick pay)?2yearpostie wrote: ↑03 Apr 2022, 15:49Woody Guthrie wrote: ↑03 Apr 2022, 15:43Why would those be alternatives?if the alternative is no rise at all, or loosing members of staff to pay the rest a bigger wage then i dont see whats wrong with accepting it.
They makes no sense as alternatives.![]()
I really do laugh at you long term rm employees. my old man never had a payrise in 20 years at the private company he worked for as the alternatives ive already suggested were very real to the company he worked at.
With rm already getting rid of 700 managers to save costs i can easily see them saying either no pay this year or make the walks bigger and loose a few postie if you want a rise in order to save the company (a'la p&o style)
Id also accept no payrise if we got better t&c and more jobs were created.

They'll probably be a lot more Lapsing required.

Re: Payrise
I believe anything below at least 6% is a slap in the cheek. 6% without strings is still a pay cut. With 6% I guess I could live with on condition that it will follow by another 4% next year. As to the guy above why would worry about making walks bigger for exchange for a bigger pay rise? Just work to your time and cut off even more. Why would you worry about larger walks? If they wanna make an average round double and give us 10% rise. That's great I am taking it. It'd cost them a fortune dealing with all the cut offs though and potential increased sick leave on top. Disruption to the already disrupted service could collapse the company.

Re: Payrise
Been said a few times on this thread but its so obvious that this will be dragged out for another 4-6 months before we’re offered 3% and a lump sum bribe of £200. And we’ll accept it.

Re: Payrise
In years past this would have definitely been the case but the rising cost of living this year is unprecedented. And these rising bills and costs will never come back down. Terry Pullinger and Dave Ward need to seriously earn their silly salaries and get us minimum 7%.

Pro rata lump sum as well. One of the strings attached will probably involve us having to do a selfie with the parcel recipient

Re: Payrise
The pay rise or the selfie? If given a vote then I would go against a massively below inflation 3% pay rise. As for work practices (Uncle Si I was only joking about selfies with customers, please don’t implement it) I’ll do anything within my contracted hours which is a reasonable request.

Why would we lose Postie rounds? Is that even possible?
Approx 200,000 new homes are built each year in the UK for a start. They are keen to bolster Sunday deliveries.
Royal Mails profits have been very very good over the past 2 years.
The wage increase should at least be the same % increase as the National Living Wage which I am sure it will be.
At the very least, the areas of the UK that are costly to live in such as London and the outskirts should be getting a significant pay rise or 'weighting' payment increase or whatever they call it.
A Posties salary in Newcastle is the same as it is in Oxford. So you can say Posties are paid well - yeah - if you live in Newcastle. If you live in Oxford it is not well paid and doesn't go nearly as far as it would in the north.

Re: Payrise
If you have 50 x 3h 30 rounds and with the revision they make the rounds 4 h 30 you now only have approx 40 rounds.
How many tens of thousands of jobs have we lost over the past 2 decades?
As for the idea of regional pay bargaining: That would be a huge step backwards.
If the postie in Oxford sees better prospects in the North he could always get on his bike.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Re: Payrise
It's not even possible. Even at 3% inflation per year, a wage would need to increase by 80% over 20 years just to match that. SO someone with no pay rise after 20 years is on about half the wage he started on in real terms.Woody Guthrie wrote: ↑03 Apr 2022, 16:13That clearly isn't true.my old man never had a payrise in 20 years at the private company he worked for

Si
On reports that the business made £726 profits last year...
Royal Mail made c£340m - GLS made the rest, and on around half of our turnover - so the GLS model is more or less twice as profitable….
Nick
Regarding the USO and the stamp price rise...
the number of addresses we have to deliver to has grown by around 3.5 million since 2004/5

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
