Update video from Terry today about the pay rise. For anyone with something better to do for 2 minutes than watch it, there is no update on a pay rise.

Still nothing that would give us an insight of where we are going with this. I think it's been said here many times already. Royal Mail will be in no rush to offer us anything and if the CWU won't press hard enough they will stall it as long as possible. This company is so poorly managed and the service is so poor we are going down the shitter. Even the share prices is suffering now. I reckon royal mail so heavily reliant on the goodwill of workforce, having such a large number of frontline workers by undermining its best asset in favour of shareholders, namely large investment funds', individual billionaires' profits, has shot its own foot.

I to worked for companies who would give you a crap 1% payrise but it was never attached to conditions it was a payrise not a paydeal,surely there isnt anymore conditions to be had we are streched to the limit as it is,im all for the union but that deal s**t has to stop.

1) There are those who know how to work the stage system AD. They simply monitor their own abscences and IF they haven't had any genuine sickness for a 6 month period they just have a "Sickie" instead. TBH it's normally longer than the weekend as it turns into 7 days self certification. It's the Managers problem to sort it but they rarely do.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Ah bless Terry, the penny has finally dropped that the company don't give a s**t about us. All of the "fourth emergency service" stuff was just crap and Terry thought that it meant something.

Meanwhile reality has just knocked on the door.

Update on CWU Pay Discussions

The success of Royal Mail depends significantly on the dedication and performance of our people, as well as the transformational changes we need to deliver in order to be able to compete. We know our people have worked hard during the pandemic and that cost of living pressures are front of mind. We want to give a pay rise.

As a business, however, we are facing increasing uncertainty and declining consumer confidence. This is partly driven by recent world events, and growing inflationary pressures. This is an evolving situation and is affecting completion of our plan for 22/23.

The Board has asked for a bit more time to consider all the factors impacting our business so that they can make the right recommendations that prioritise the long term sustainability of the company. This includes consideration of the investment and wider transformational change we need to reinvent Royal Mail for the next generations, and the mandate for the pay award.

We are aware of CWU’s expectation on the timing of pay talks and will update you as soon as possible.

Good speech Terry but it would be even better of CWU set some deadlines as to where they expect an offer. In case of no reply they should start taking action. Including potential ballot for strike. Otherwise we are just wasting time.

Ricky means "We know if we keep you waiting til October you'll take 1.5% and the back pay in time for Xmas. So don't expect to hear from us again on the subject til then."

My expectation is the business will hit the union with something like a choice

4% no strings

Or

2% + 35hr week

Or

7% and a whole bag of if, buts and maybes, conditional on pilots and trials

Or

9% over two years 5% first year 4% second year depending on inflation.

Puts the s**t back in the union's court. The papers just pick the highest figure and run with it.

It's what you would do if you wanted to stall the whole process.

I wonder if this delay is acceptable to the CWU.

Answering my own question, the update states "The Board has asked for a bit more time to consider all the factors......"
So do we assume the board has asked the CWU for a bit more time!. Faffing about!
