Today I had 2 PCR tests and a Signed For parcel at an address.
A woman came and opened the door, masked, stood respectfully well back and said she wouldn't come any closer.
Fine. I scan all her items. I sign for her parcel, leave them in the doorway and go on my merry way.

Are those stupid f***ing pen pushers expecting me to hand over my PDA on the 4th April if/when the situation arises again?
I hate them. I really really hate them.
They don’t xxxxing care about our well-being !
To be honest. I would have left them at the door, knock and quickly back off 6 yards.

Senior Operations Solutions Manager

Continue with XP1 from 4th April if you are concerned but we hope by end of April we'll be able to return to BAU. Will keep it under review. Safety first.

Briefing has just come out and there are 2 weeks for it to be delivered. Use of XP1 permitted through April and fingers crossed the rates will tail off. Will keep it under review

Hello, please let me try to provide some comfort. There is a brief that started today (3 days ago) and is to be delivered over the next couple of weeks which is why some will have heard of the reinstatement and some won't yet. We are saying reinstate from 4th April but stay safe by making use of PPE such as gloves, facemasks and hand sanitiser.

We recognise some recipients may not be comfortable signing so the SOP has been updated to include covid alongside disability as reason to use Deliver Without Signature (D W S). We also recognise that some delivery colleagues would like refresher training regarding signature capture and closely associated dog safety AVOID processes.

And we recognise that some new starters may never have taken a signature so they will need some workplace coaching as well. With so much going on we thought it sensible to say from 4th April and complete by end of April. If you are worried about transmission whilst rates are so high please continue with XP1 until you are comfortable at some point in April.......another reason why there's a month for this to bed back in.

We'll keep it under review of course and if new variant appears we may have to take a different tack. But our customers are asking us for signatures....and they pay us for them too. Safety first always...please do use PPE and D W S if recipients don't want to sign. Don't hand the PDA over....hold at arms length in a manner that recipient can sign. Finally, as we recognise the added risk that both photo and signature capture pose in terms of dog incidents there will be a full briefing on dog safety coming out next week to ensure safety. Thank you for all your hard work.

I'm saying that those that are concerned should use PPE. With high rates at the moment I suspect many fall in that category - especially the vulnerable or yet to be fully vaccinated. But equally many will consider themselves to be immune through recent infection or full vaccination. We have just under 6 weeks to go and a lot can change in that time. Hopefully much for the better.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

It was the perfect opportunity to remove this outdated method of proof of delivery from the business entirely.

Customers have had two years to get used to not signing for items and we now have photo capture which is a far more robust solution to prevent denial of receipt.

A meaningless squiggle on a PDA is not a service anyone is seriously interested in anymore.

Poor decision to drag us back to the past, no other courier would even consider this.
Absolutely, RM just do not have the correct products these days and unfortunately don't appear to be making any attempt to remedy that, specials still before 1pm a prime example :arrrghhh

Spot on, special delivery is outdated, also why is the time before 1pm? Customers just want next day delivery like prime, if the customer is not in they will be making a trip to the delivery office to collect it just to do a squiggle on a pda!

So are we expected to sanitize the PDAs after every call? I will not be responsible for passing covid down a street. As for wearing gloves, are we expected to change gloves after every call, they don't magically kill viruses?

I mentioned this to about a dozen "customers" today and not one of them was in favour of having to sign again. Several questioned why it would ever need to be done again as the current system works fine.

Is there any more news on this? (seeing as we are getting very close to the end of April)

Signature Capture - Re-instating our popular signed for product

Signature Capture - Re-instating our popular signed for product

A big thank you goes out to everyone who is already capturing signatures from our customers - and a reminder that our deadline for full re-instatement of Signature Capture is coming up on Sunday 1 May.

Following consultation with the CWU, we’ve been re-instating Signature Capture throughout the month of April.

Frontline delivery colleagues should now have received a refresher from their manager about how to capture signatures and an associated reminder brief about dog awareness.

Our standard operating procedures on Signature Capture have been updated to include new guidance on using PPE and how to handle the PDA when getting a signature from a customer (please see sections four and seven of SOP22.2 in particular for the changes.)

The brief is therefore not only a vital intro to Signature Capture for delivery colleagues who have joined since we temporarily suspended the feature in March 2020, but also contains vital updates for those who worked with Signature Capture before March 2020.

If you have not yet received the refresher on Signature Capture – please ask your manager for details. If you are a manager and have not delivered the refresher to your staff – please click the links below and ensure that your teams are fully briefed.

We temporarily suspended Signature Capture, which is a feature of our Special Delivery and Signed For products and some Tracked variants, in March 2020 as part of our response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

With life returning to business as usual, we have taken a cautious approach to re-instating the feature, in line with Government guidelines.
We asked colleagues to begin capturing signatures from Monday 4 April, with a view to reintroducing the feature at a pace to suit colleagues with normal service to be resumed by the beginning of May 2022.

If you have any questions, please contact the People Case Advice Team for support.

We haven't had work time learning since the beginning of covid and haven't been told about signature capture, just wondering now if our boss is pulling a fast one to stop us going slower and cutting off like we use to so he can get a bonus, our workplace coaches have been told nothing either.
