Re: My experience after one month in the job.
sounds like you have a good attitude towards it, so long as youre happy to go outside your hours and complete all your work then the managers will tend to leave you alone even if you book an hour or so a day (so long as they see that youre actually working it!)

Not sure there's any need to book an hour's o/t at the moment as it seems to have all gone a bit quiet on the packets/parcels front.

Today was busier than expected for a Saturday. Some of my bags were rammed with parcels, and it`s one of the biggest walks in the office.

Yes quite surprising he’s not managed to deliver all his papers during his 8 hour paper round.postslippete wrote: ↑18 Mar 2022, 22:19
Be careful missing out these streets because regardless of what time you finish your commanding officer could pull you up as to why you are not completing your paper-round as directed.

Re: My experience after one month in the job.
Really funny. You made me laugh out loud.
Just wander about and post stuff. Not physically or mentally demanding. Lol.
You're not going to be popular here saying that.
It is certainly a step up from the Army, though, yes. Congratulations.
You do have to get the right letters in the right holes, though.
I'd love to know what this street is you're missing?
Is it you get back to the office and you have one street left over?
You can't find the street?
I'm sure you are doing a good job and you'll settle in.
Just don't do everything the manager says. That is NOT how it works here.

This reads like an advert for the unused People AppIan2726 wrote: ↑15 Mar 2022, 11:19
Day 1: Did the day of online training. The people app was all set up and I already had a pay statement on there for my first 3 days.
Day 3 and 4 : The frame was done. Followed a guy on the route I wouldTold manager of leave I had pre booked before starting the job they asked for dates and I gave them to them. They were on People App within a day.
I was impressed with pay and leave on People app being actioned quickly. Uniform thing is annoying.

TBH my manager was pretty sound about it. She knew I couldn't be expected to jump straight in and get it all smashed out.sfxdby wrote: ↑22 Mar 2022, 22:05Really funny. You made me laugh out loud.

Not missing streets now though. Getting most of the letters in most of the correct holes.
I didn't think it would be a popular opinion judging by what I hear in the delivery office.
It seems people have no idea or interest in what you've done before as being a posty is hardest thing anyone could do.
FML I've done 8 HR patrols in Afghanistan with 30kg + been on exercise for weeks on end in the pissing rain, slept under a sheet in the snow etc. etc. , but nope walking about pushing a red trolley and a bag is waaaay harder.

Why are you finding it so hard to get ALL the letters in ALL the correct holes given you're military back ground?Ian2726 wrote: ↑25 Mar 2022, 08:07TBH my manager was pretty sound about it. Delivery of post is not as easy as people think, we all go at different speeds & it takes some people longer to pick it up than others, but most of us get there in the end, I was told in my first week that he thought the job wasn’t right for me, I am still here 35 years later so stick with it mate.

Super SI
my experience of new starters - is they stay - if the rest of the team on-board them correctly - and don’t give them the worst route that no one wants to do - and no training so they feel like they are drowning from day one - we have an agreed onboarding process - but I rarely see it followed - one for all local teams to embrace - please let me know how you get on...

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

But come the next repick they’ll all be given the chance not to, you know, pick the worst route. Even though they’ve picked the worst route for the last 22 years.Sir Henry wrote: ↑31 Mar 2022, 14:59Seeing as all walks are the same EVERYONE gets the worst route.Woody Guthrie wrote: ↑31 Mar 2022, 14:47
