Try doing it 5 days a week, 48 weeks of the year in all weathers for 15+ years.Ian2726 wrote: ↑15 Mar 2022, 16:15
I'm 40 odd and just finished 22 years in the Army. This is a paper round for adults with a few more bells and whistles and better pay.

I did LATs myself before and in the given time I could do double the amount of deliveries if not triple at a push.

I was already fit when I started. It was something different, nice to be out and a good laugh. This doesn't last long as you're ground down by doing it 5 days a week and get done over by management on a daily basis. Enjoy the honeymoon...

Make sure you record how much OT you've worked each day, I record start time, finish time, OT and the walk I've done.Ian2726 wrote: ↑15 Mar 2022, 16:17My contract doesn't mention start or finish time. I've got a notebook since when I started. This helps with any 'discussions' about non-payment further down the line.

The job in itself is good. Walk about and post stuff. Not physically or mentally demanding. Ideal for me at the moment
Ha! You have a shock and a half coming, especially if you go full time and have your van change over.

Re: My experience after one month in the job.
You’ve only done a month, I suggest you judge it after 12 months after working in all weather and done a Christmas, plus being mucked about and changing walks every day and going to different offices, working a firm duty in a van, good luck

Be careful missing out these streets because regardless of what time you finish your commanding officer could pull you up as to why you are not completing your paper-round as directed.
Do not make yourself an easy target
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Re: My experience after one month in the job.
A real easy paper round thats taking you several hours longer than will be expected of you
Come back when you can do it within your regular hours without missing streets and the manager isnt so keen to pay you OT

You've ruffled a few feathers there
!!
In principle I agree with you. The management try and make it as complicated as possible when in reality it is exactly what you say it is.
There are plenty on here who think the job is a 50/50 mix of brain surgeon and Olympic athlete when it really isnt.
