Shocked that youre recommending it after reading your post. None of the negative stuff surprised me though, all very typical Royal Mail.
The job in itself is good. Walk about and post stuff. Not physically or mentally demanding. Ideal for me at the moment
Wait until you’re walking 11 miles a day, 6 days a week In the freezing rain & whatever else with heavy bags. It’s probably one of the most physical Jobs you can do. The first few weeks breaks most people if they aren’t fit.

Not physically demanding? 😂 give it a few years and you might have a different opinion.

I'm 40 odd and just finished 22 years in the Army. This is a paper round for adults with a few more bells and whistles and better pay.
Try doing it 5 days a week, 48 weeks of the year in all weathers for 15+ years.

Tell your manager if he wants you to start at 9 to get your contract changed
My contract doesn't mention start or finish time. Just 5hrs a day Wednesday to Sunday. Job description had 1000-1500.
Im not talking about the start time im talking about the hours
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

How big of an area do you cover? If 10-15 parcels take around 2.5h?
LAT office perhaps?
I did LATs myself before and in the given time I could do double the amount of deliveries if not triple at a push.

I was already fit when I started. It was something different, nice to be out and a good laugh. This doesn't last long as you're ground down by doing it 5 days a week and get done over by management on a daily basis. Enjoy the honeymoon...

Make sure you record how much OT you've worked each day, I record start time, finish time, OT and the walk I've done.
I've got a notebook since when I started. This helps with any 'discussions' about non-payment further down the line.

Ha! You have a shock and a half coming, especially if you go full time and have your van change over.

20-25 parcels in 5 hours?!!
Sunday's seem to be pretty dead at the moment. I've been told it'll get much busier
I'd love to get 5h sunday s/a for doing 25parcels :nana :nana If lucky I'd be home in 2hours time.
They're not 25 near each other. It's been 10-15 that take about 2.5 then get back pick up more that have been delivered to delivery office while I've been out get another lot do them and finish.

Can go up-to 45 mins out from the delivery office.

You’ve only done a month, I suggest you judge it after 12 months after working in all weather and done a Christmas, plus being mucked about and changing walks every day and going to different offices, working a firm duty in a van, good luck

Day 6: Frame was done for me. Did the round on my own started at 0900 and got back at 1700. Missed out one street.

Day 7: Did the round 0900 and back at 1600. Missed one street.

Be careful missing out these streets because regardless of what time you finish your commanding officer could pull you up as to why you are not completing your paper-round as directed.

Do not make yourself an easy target

A real easy paper round thats taking you several hours longer than will be expected of you

Come back when you can do it within your regular hours without missing streets and the manager isnt so keen to pay you OT
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

You've ruffled a few feathers there :Very Happy !!
In principle I agree with you. The management try and make it as complicated as possible when in reality it is exactly what you say it is.
There are plenty on here who think the job is a 50/50 mix of brain surgeon and Olympic athlete when it really isnt.
