Hi, we are a small business customer of royal mail and have been let down badly by Royal Mail on 3 times over the last year. The latest occasion was on the 3rd March when they have lost 17 of our parcels at Bristol.
Wh have been told by our local delivery office that Bristol are having problems, yet there are no updateds on the Royal Mail website.
I have localted another 3 local businesses that have also had a lot of lost and delayed mail go through the Bristol office.
This is the 3rd occasion in 12 months where our parcels have been lost for over 2 weeks, then been delivered. This is a massive problem for us as we are forced to refund our customers as the parcels have been lost.
There are two fo us who run our small business and again for the 3rd time in 12 months we will lose wages this month due to Royal Mails sevre delays.
Of coure we have contacted Royal Mail who frankly could not give a dam.
We are now sending anything over 500g with Hermes, so I guess Royal Mail will lose out. We won't be the only ones who are finding that we can no longer use Royal Mail for our business as the service is so unreliable.
What makes matters worse id that Royla Mail don't make thses issues public so it reflects bad on us as a small business as the customers think that we are not delivering our products. Many of our products are postable < 500g, so are send via second class as that is the only economical service available to us.
If Royal Mail are unable to deliver parcels reliably at the prices they offer, then they should discontinue their unreliable services.

Re: Bristol Sorting Office Problems
Sometimes the machines dont work very well and a parcel could be in the mail centre for 2 days for 1st class and 3 days for 2nd class. If staff are off due to corona virus recently at delivery offices you could add more days of delay. Everywhere has minimum staff so breakdowns and illness mean a parcel could take two weeks. Choosing 2nd class and informing customers is probably a good idea.

As a regulated industry they basically aren't allowed to do this.
You can and should take this up with the regulator. But they will require you to exhaust RM's complaint escalation procedure first.

Re: Bristol Sorting Office Problems
We are moving to Yodel and Hermes postables and taking our business away from Royal Mail.
As a business Royal Mail is well aware of the problems and not interested in sorting them out or even admitting to them.
We simply can't run our business using an unreliable carrier. Chatting to others who sell via marketplaces, they are also moving their business away from Royal Mail as fast as possible. Continuing to use Royal Mail is not a viable option for businesses.

Re: Bristol Sorting Office Problems
All 17 parcels have still not been delivered. Our wages will now be down over £100 this month due trot he refunds we have had to give.
I guess it must be a regular occurrence that an entire York disappears? This is the 3rd time it happened to us.
I'll keep updating this post to document it for others who lose the entire batched of parcels.
We're unable to claim. Even though the delivery office scans each parcel we hand over we get no "proof of postage". You would have thought handing the parcel in person to the people at the delivery office, who then scan's the parcel would be enough proof that we actually sent the parcels. It's certainly good enough for other carriers. Another good reason not to send anything further with Royal Mail.
