Safeplace and a photo on the PDA should only ever have been used when one was specified on the label or via an inflight instruction.

All of the unofficial "safeplaces" that we have used for years can no longer be used as there is no proof that it was asked for.

Add to that trying to take a photo of a packet halfway through a letterbox in the pissing rain with a PDA that isn't suitable, getting the occupant to keep the door open on a windy day in the pissing rain while you try to take a photo with a PDA that isn't suitable. Getting a neighbour to take a packet in and then explaining that you need to take a photo etc etc

The only safe place option is if it flashes up on the PDA however its at your disrection and if it goes missing, gets damage, customer puts complaint in even tho youve done as requested you are the one that has given rm proof what youve done and you will be out of the door.

Most of my safeplace that come up on pda are 'behind bin' or 'in garden', am i going to that at any point when it could get rained on, mr burgler come along and look behind bin? I think not.

Yes.
Whenever something new is introduced you have to act like the world has ended and a duty that used to take 4 hours will now take just over a year to complete.
The callers office will now have to be rebuilt to accommodate the 4.3 million parcels that every duty in the office will now have to 739.

The reality is most people will manage after a very brief bedding in period.
But until then run around the office shouting either "the sky is falling" or "the Russians are coming"

I don’t think the customer will appreciate tracked flowers being returned to the office. As usual this hasn’t been thought through.

I was wondering, when customers collect their photo-required parcels at the post office/callers office - what do the workers behind the counter do? Does it no longer need a photo? Surely its the customer sending it that requires the photo anyway so why would it no longer be needed? And if it is needed, what photo is taken?

Why are customers not being informed? Even a simple leaflet through doors saying this was coming in and to nominate a safe place?

What happens when the customer doesn’t have the tracking code or access to internet to set a ‘safe place’?

Even if they do have the tracking code, do they need to set the safe place for every parcel they get delivered? I see DPD have options on their app that allow you to set a safe place, etc etc.

Easy to say just p739 it and bring it back but 9 out of 10 times they’re just going to get it redelivered on a no doubt an already busy day.

Also, why bother putting a loud beep, red P and yellow background on the pda when the majority of parcels will need a photo? Should be the other way round so you can celebrate not having to waste time at someone’s door.

Yes, they will need the safeplace for every parcel. Some years ago as a newbie I had a Queen Special Delivery and an identical one for the same house, I asked a manager for the procedure if no one was in - he confirmed that I could sign for the Queen one, but would have to 739 the other one. There is no reason why the same doesn't apply here.

No safeplace stated and a photo of the packet by an open doorway or halfway through a letter box is what will be expected. The idiots in charge of this have already posted photos of how not to do it so that is what they want.

This whole thing just proves how the people that make decisions have absolutely no idea what goes on on the actual delivery.

Looking forward to taking a nice close up of the staffy just before it bites my face off. This is a really unsafe practice being introduced for those dodgy areas with dangerous dogs. I have several addresses where after knocking with a parcel I make sure I’m right up the path and behind the gate as I know what’s coming. I’ll not be risking myself to take a picture of some boohoo shite.

The sender will know what was on the label. The sender has the "contract" with RM and is the person to claim if it goes missing.

I had four packets the other day that needed photos, three from the same place but all the same colour, I just put them in a pile and took the picture when the door was opened.

What I don't understand is what this will prove if there is a denial of reciept claim. Will a manager go to the house to check what colour the carpet is, to confirm it was at the correct house??
