Hi,
Does anyone happen to know how delayed the services might be for Special Delivery atm? I sent a very important document via Special Delivery guaranteed next day, was meant to have arrived on Friday 18th in London, but due to storm Eunice, I can I understand that that there might be some delay. Long story short, I handed it in on Wednesday evening, but the tracker says ‘Sender Preparing item” and there has been no update since then. Went back to the post office on Friday to see if they might know, person at the counter said that it would have been collected on the Thursday evening and there was nothing else for them to do on their side. Hasn’t been scanned at any MC I don’t even know what the local mail centre for my area is, and i don’t even know where it is at this point. So I’m really panicking that it’s lost somewhere as it needs to reach its destination by tomorrow at the latest otherwise it’s going to be a massive issue. Might anyone have any insight or should I just accept the fate that it’s lost for ever?

1739 scanned as accepted is quite late so it may not have made it for that night's collection.
However, I would have expected to see some movement now. Do you have a tracking number?
I think South Midlands MC is your local MC and Kettering the local Delivery Office.
Thursday and Friday were the 2 days that affected Royal Mail quite badly because of the storms. Hopefully, everything is fine, I would keep an eye on tracking and see if anything pops up today, although some parts of the UK are getting hit today.

Thanks for the information I do have the tracking number I'm just hoping that there is some kind of movement today. I will be refreshing that tracking to check, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed!!

So no update on the tracker, I went back to the post office today and they confirmed that the item was collected and said that they have evidence of the person taking 8 special delivery items on the Thursday evening, including my item. So my only hope now is that it is delayed and that someone just forgot to scan it in when it got to the mailing centre....though I'm slightly starting to fear that it is lost now. I wonder if there are still delays with the London delivery services.

An update, my parcel was finally scanned into the system on Tuesday 22nd Feb afternoon at the mail centre and then moved to the local mail centre where it was to be delivered yesterday (Wednesday 23rd Feb) at the destination.
I'm just so relieved that it was able to get where it needed to. I had spoken to the postie that collects the letters and packages at my local post office on Monday and he said that it was strange that it had not yet been scanned in considering it was a special delivery. I had contacted the Royal Mail twitter account for help, on Monday 21st, but at that point it was still showing as sender preparing item, they weren't able to trace it either and just told me that I would have to wait until Thursday 24th Feb before it would be officially considered missing. It was a bit of a rollercoaster, just thankful that it was found in time.
