I sent a parcel in the 26th of November to the US. Today is the 2nd of January and the tracking is still stuck on “item leaving the UK”.
I’ve gone through the process of filling online forms out , proving how much the parcel is worth and how I sent it and then at the end it says I can’t process the claim because I have to wait until 25 days after the due date ?
Not being funny but it’s been a month and a half and my parcel hasn’t even left the UK so it’s pretty obvious it’s lost but how do I even know what this supposed due date is ? Let’s say the due date is now, that means I have to wait until the 27th to make a claim?. If that’s the case then it’s shambolic. It doesn’t help matters I also sent a parcel to the US and it arrived in Germany, I mean what the hell is going on?

What are the tracking numbers for the parcels and what are the contents of each?

One I posted to the US in November is - RN636667530GB
One I posted to the US but has gone to Germany instead - RN636667645GB
Both parcels contain Christmas greetings cards

Re: I don’t understand why I can’t claim compensation for lost parcel?
There shouldn't be any customs issues with the contents if it's just greetings cards, so I'm guessing that it's capacity issues both for flights over to the US and at US customs.
With RN636667645GB, the one that ended up in Germany, there's two likely outcomes:
1) Deutsche Post forward it on to the US once German customs have released it to them
2) Deutsche Post return it to the UK

Source: https://www.royalmail.com/international-compensationLoss claims should not be submitted until after 20 working days after the due delivery date for items going to Europe and after 25 working days for Rest of the World.
By my reckoning, it is 22 working days since you posted this. Saturdays, Sundays and (UK) bank holidays don't count.
No, that status means that it was put on the plane to the US on Sunday 28th November. The lack of any further tracking indicates that the issue is in US customs. What did you send?

Just to clarify, we are not an official site so we can't give an official response. It also means while we may disagree with the compensation situation, it also means we can't do anything except advice what we think is happening.C2019 wrote: ↑02 Jan 2022, 21:32I sent a parcel in the 26th of November to the US. Having said that I hope it all gets sorted, and to add I do know that USPS is struggling at the moment. They even admitted to a slow down in their system, meanwhile they are trying to get rid of a Trump appointee who scrapped some machines and never replaced them.
Good luck.
