SA is used to prevent part time staff gaining improved contracts.
There may be some instances where it is warranted but most of it is full time staff lining their pockets at the expense of their part time colleagues.
If they gave notice to all SA holders tomorrow I would be cheering them on.
That's fine until they then ask the p/t'ers to do it on the standard rate o/t rather than the enhanced SA rates presently being paid?

Does anybody understand when SA is supposed to be paid rather than just o/t? As I mentioned above it's paid for collections in our DO, I'm not sure when else it's paid?
At our place SA is collections, deck and some Sunday duties if your contract isn’t 5 over 7. There may be others I don’t know about.

Executive Action Resourcing in Royal Mail Scotland&NI

Post by Woody Guthrie »

Executive Action

Postal workers have gone the extra mile since the start of the pandemic. Not only have we had to deal with record traffic, staff shortages and bad planning by managers but now we have had underhand tactics to remove further hours from Delivery Offices by Executive Action.
Yesterday the CWU intercepted a direct instruction from Achim Dunwald to SDL's to;
1. Remove all agency staff except those in high impact (failing ) offices or who have committed to non service or Sunday working - they will be sacked after this.
2. Terminate, on Christmas Eve, all Christmas direct recruits
3. Remove all hired vans
4. Review new recruits (even those agreed as part of revision activity)
4a. Any new recruits not yet started to be deferred till April 2022
4b Recruitment requests deferred till April 2022. HR will advise on those to be terminated!
5. Review Fixed Term Contracts - determine whether it is necessary to terminate between Christmas Eve and New Years Eve.! To be clear fixed term contract staff numbers have been agreed as part of revision activity - any attempt to remove them by executive action will be met by an appropriate response,

Achim Dunwald issued a spreadsheet showing those offices which had to reduce hours by the above method.

This is in direct contradiction to what he posted on RM workspace that these would be negotiated with the CWU and we heard this morning that some Area Delivery Reps have already been approached to implement this unagreed attack on Delivery Office Hours.

The plan pays no regard to the mess created in some DO's by mis-managed revisions, takes no account of failing offices, disregards the stress levels in Delivery of loyal staff and completely ignores the need for local consultation.

This morning senior Reps in the Division agreed that any proposals to implement this plan locally needs to be registered as a Flash Point under the IR Framework and passed directly to Divisional Reps.

This Christmas, we gave you our heart
But the very next day, you cancelled SA
This year, to save you from tears
We delivered just tracked and specials.

Once bitten, twice shy...

He sits in apprehension of the spectral visitors sent to redeem him this evening
Or he is letting his lickspittles take the heat while he concocts another missive filled with weasel words and obfuscation.

Simon Thompson posted in Workplace this morning:

Feeling Festive

Team - you have all been fantastic this year - thank you - one more day to go -and then your well earned rest begins - Merry Christmas & Happy New Year - see you all very soon….

-------------------------------
I bet quite a few will not be feeling festive having received the RM news.

Obviously he wont be seeing quite a few of the 'Team' in the new year, as he has given many a long - very long - well earned rest
Everything will be OK in the end, If it's not OK, then its not the end.

How exactly did they intercept it?
Hacked his computer?
Opened his mail?
Shot the carrier pigeon?
All sounds very cloak and daggers.

A few of our hire vans went back last week, but the locally hired ones were with us until today - I'd expect the DOM contracted to a set period before some fuckwit threw in a deadline! I did wonder if the ones remaining would have turned into pumpkins!
Royal Mail
failing the workforce, failing the public and deliberately failing mail on a daily basis for too many years.

Terry and co also seem to have gone quiet, apart from the extra hire vans disappearing, as was expected anyway, it seems business as normal at our DO.
