Re: Failed driver training
There will be a temporary relaxation to the Royal Mail Group policy which is set out in Royal Mail Group (Safety Health & Environment (SHE) Instruction 8.2) which requires that new recruits receive RMG driver training before they are permitted to drive Royal Mail Vans.
The temporary interim arrangements will involve, as an exception, allowing new recruits to drive vans immediately on starting employment with Royal Mail subject to:
The new external recruit drivers meeting the minimum Royal Mail standards on recruitment and full driving licence check.
The new external recruit drivers undergoing an online assessment which includes testing of their driving knowledge, experience and hazard perception.
The Pertemps training has to have been booked for new recruit drivers.
They have received the ‘Driving for Operational Cover’ e-learning, (this is used for agency drivers and was what was used for new starters during the RMG Covid secure restrictions).
They have had a familiarisation of the vehicle session with a Manager or Workplace Coach.
Royal Mail stress the importance of compliance with these requirements, and will track training bookings against recruitment.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: Failed driver training
Driver training is the do's and don'ts of using a marked company vehicle in public that presents an image of the company.
Imagine what people may think, or do, if they saw someone in a certain uniform behaving terribly: It brings the company (via the uniform) into disrepute.
The van is an extension of your uniform, and your driving is part of your behaviour. You need to account for how the company comes across via your behaviour. You aren't some random in a private car where noone can trace you and the police don't care: your a postie in a postvan and RM will absolutely know who was driving when they (and possibly OfCom) recieve complaints.

"image of the company". You're having a laugh...
Have you seen the state of some of the unroadworthy vans posties are bullied into driving every day.

I'm not sure R5Rich will hear you Pumpernickel. He was last active in 2016! But your point is good.Pumpernickel wrote: ↑22 Nov 2021, 21:10Driver training is the do's and don'ts of using a marked company vehicle in public that presents an image of the company.

Re: Failed driver training
I would agree some of the vans look a right state, even though they may well be roadworthy. Refuse to drive an unroadworthy vehicle.

Re: Failed driver training
They ain't looking their best, that's for sure.
Those up top need to either employ people to clean them (and bash the dents out), or allot us time and equipment to do it (no chance). That said, they will use "image of the company" against you if you behave in unjustifiable ways.
Same as if a Stobart driver was videod plastered in a pub with their full Stobart gear on. Those sorts of things being shared on the usual social media services lead to people getting sacked, regardless of them having finished work and being on leave for the next week.

Re: Failed driver training
I drove so carefully on my changeover that it was painful. Passed it though. Lad who did it the week before got "high risk" due to having a full screaming fit in the yard at someone putting a York behind his van before he reversed
